I have always thought that this anti-BTC discourse of certain governments corresponds to the impossibility that they have to obtain benefit. Billions of investments circulate before their eyes or simply switching from one hand to another and they cannot obtain their commission as they are used to.
They have failed to find the way to the tax application.

I think when you try to ban something like this it just turns into a tool that organised crime can prosper more with.  I think trying to ban alcohol during prohibition really added to the power of these crime syndicates because they had a monopoly over the product.  With crypto, the cats is out of the bag and there are so many blockchains and nodes running them that taking down the whole thing seems like an intractable task.

A good question is why you would want to ban an economic activity that many people prosper from?  I can see trying to ban POW mining because of the high energy use but this is not an issue with POS or DPOS blockchains.  Why would you want to ban Steem?  There is an obvious record of posts that have generated some value over a long period of time.  Hardly a good tool for money laundering imho.

One would hope they have learned by now that banning something just gives people more interest in having some!
