<h1>How LEOAds Will Open Hive To New Frontiers</h1>

While I am crazy excited that threads is here from the LeoFinance team btw if you haven't checked it out yet but sure to go to [LeoThreads](https://leofinance.io/threads) and current Alpha testing on [LeoThreads Alpha](https://alpha.leofinance.io/threads) the really exciting part for me is the introduction of LEOADS!

### What Is LeoAds?

So far it's mainly just information I've pulled from AMAs and what I've seen in the past. There are some ads that currently run on LeoFinance at the moment and the payout on those is pretty decent. That was during a time when threads wasn't even a thing. Now a days with threads and soon the new main UI updating to Threads as the primary focus we are seeing reports of 3x - 5x earnings which pure speculation on my part would put us at a few thousand dollars of ad revenue income right now per month.

**What happens with all of that ad revenue?**

Right now nothing much it's being stocked at the moment but soon it will be placed into smart contracts which will convert it into LEO tokens that will be bought off the markets and then divided up to those who have LEO power staked. When we might see that is anyone's guess but I'm expecting it some time next month (March 2023) Also one thing I'm wondering is if they will take the months of stacked up funds and just dump it all in one month or will it be spread out over 3,6 or 12 months to make it more fluid. 

### The Next Evolution

I have a strong feeling that LeoThreads will be a primary case of how to run a successful layer 2 token and how powerful running even a small amount of ads or even implementing basic ad type features to the platform can drastically improve your tokennomics. We should see a price increase of the LEO token not only because users want it but also because of the ad revenue supporting at least the basic price point.

For me this should be applied to any and all projects on hive if you really want to build a successful business and web3 model. 

For example Splinterlands any time a paid partnership is implemented some of those funds from the partnership promotion should be put back into the value of the game. Be it through random rewards, SPS buy and burns or some how returning value back into cards themselves. This also applies to fees generated from trades and swaps which will increasingly become a huge part of Splinterlands at the end of this year.

Another example would be 3Speak. While I understand they are heavily working on the backend non of that really matters if your platform doesn't offer something that content creators really want and that's a source of revenue. It costs time and money to create videos so no monetary value is quickly going to see that fade and not grow. Running simple ad on the side bar or a short video of 10 seconds before the start of a video or even implementing paid subscriptions are all possibilities for 3speak to really start building value.

Overall Hive applications need to start generating revenue that goes back into hive and their core layer 2 tokens otherwise all they are doing and continue to do is syphon off money from the DAO and ask for money instead of providing a product that is sustainable and also profitable!
