The only games I've ever been able to play super long term was EverQuest and Half-Life. I've got at least 5k hours in half-life as I've been playing before valve switched to the Steam platform. I was there when Steam was released and all I played was Half-Life. Particularly a HLDM mod called *Oz Deathmatch which eventually forked to become *Xtreme Deathmatch*. This is where I found my place in the gaming world and now the Xtreme Deathmatch servers are mostly empty but they're still there! We were a smaller community within the Half-Life community. Ever since I quit playing Half-Life I've been searching for that new game that I can just sit and play for hours on end.
Battlefield 4 is on a similar boat but I definitely have more hours in Half-Life. To this day, I still seek that perfect game for me. The Division 2 is great and I have a lot of fun with it but I just can't see myself playing it for the next 10 years.
I started playing Half-Life in 1998 and in 2009 I was still playing it. I probably quit altogether around 2012. Playing this game is like riding a bike. You just don't forget!
So I'll be doing some Half-Life and other old school games today, but if I get bored I'll be going back to Division 2 before it's all said and done.
