You play as a Dwarf who works for Deep rock galactic an off-world mining company searching for precious minerals in space. The game features procedurally generated levels that are fully destructible and the dwarfs are split into four distinct classes with different equipment.**</center>

**The game can be played solo with an AI drone or online with up to three other players. Right from the start, it is a very simple game to understand and the control system is very streamlined and user friendly the basic mission structure sees you land on a giant rock explore the environment for precious minerals and fight off alien hordes. In the process you will be calling in supply drops to refill your ammo then once the quota of minerals is met it's time to call in the drop pod followed by a mad dash to the extraction point as you progress you will unlock other missions like egg hunts, salvage operations, point extraction, and elimination contracts but these will only become available as you progress through the tasks on the assignment board so as I said you play as a dwarf and you have four distinct character classes to choose from.**

 **You have the scout, driller, engineer, and the gunner. Each dwarf has two weapons one traversal tool grenades, a pickaxe, and one support item such as flare guns or C4 you can level up each dwarf class, and as you do you will unlock new cosmetics in the shop. The game was designed to be played online with four people but you can also play solo to make this process easier you have Bosco a drone who will accompany you down into the depths and assist with mining collecting items and attacking aliens. You also have the mule which basically acts as a mobile storage unit and a guide to help you back to the drop pod upon mission completion.**

**However the extractions can be annoying at first because the mule can walk up walls and until you get used to the traversal tools you will find yourself missing the shuttle home several times. So, technically this is a first person shooter game and there is a lot of action but I would say it's more about resource gathering than anything else that's your job you're paid to go down into these hostile places dig your way to the minerals and bring the payload home. The procedural game world is really well implemented and no two levels all missions really play out the same way the levels are broken down into hazards levels and structural complexity and on the harder settings it's very challenging just to find the resources and just to get around because it's really complex but to help you out there are these dirt patches basically the dirt patches connect different tunnels so if you're stuck and you don't know where to go look for a dirty sort of muddy patch dig through there and off you go. The world map has distinct regions like ice caverns volcanic rocks and these are really interesting because the volcanoes erupt as you're playing and the map deconstructs and causes big chasms very interesting but to help with this you have got a terrain scanner which can be accessed by your inventory and this is like a 3d map where you can see the terrain around you and work out where you've got to go or where you haven't been and it's a very useful tool**

**It's really the strongest point of the game It's all about planning your route traversing the environment and kind of making sure you've got enough material to do so. The enemies in the game are pretty varied from like basic bugs spiders flying ones who will kidnap you and large behemoths that really require some heavy weapons to kill but even dwarves need a bit of rst between missions. So, thankfully you have the rig your home base of operations where you can blast some steam with a few beers at the pub followed by the obligatory dance-off at the jukebox and at the rig you can also level up your gear trade minerals upgrade weapons unlock perks and later on you can go on deep dives and use the forge to create unique items in the late game content.**

**The game graphics look great and it has a kind of cell-shaded quality in parts. It's colorful vibrant and the dwarves all have a lot of character and charm. The steam version utilizes ansel which is a generic photo mode if you have never used it it's an excellent system although I am not sure deep rock galactic is the best game to showcase it it's a nice option to have for photo mode enthusiasts. The sound quality is top notch throughout with some great sci-fi synth themed music and a few cheesy tracks available at the jukebox for a boogie but it's the comedy voices of the dwarves that will crack you up and they come out with some real quality lines and really funny moments and the voice actors did a really good job of bringing this kind of oddball characters to life.**

**The dwarf class system makes for a varied experience, the procedural levels are really well created the mission variety keeps the experience feeling fresh the game is super addictive whether played solo or co-op. The gameplay loop is very simple but for some reason, it just never gets old the rig offers some light relief and good customization options, the sound, and the voice is excellent the online technical performance was very good and it's just a really fun enjoyable and satisfying experience. The five minute time limit on extraction is quite annoying at first a bit more variety in the cosmetic department would have been nice and it's a shame in solo you don't have AI dwarves to switch between but you do have Bosco so at least that's you're not completely alone.**

**Deep Rock Galactic is an immensely playable game with a very addictive gameplay loop. The dwarf class system procedural levels and varied mission types make for a really interesting experience even though essentially you're doing the same things over and over again.  At first, I completely fell in love with this game right from the tutorial all the way through it was a simple premise and very easy to follow. However, I did think it might get a bit boring after a while but it never did it's a real testament to some very very talented developers that they have managed to balance all the gameplay elements to create an addictive infinitely replayable and satisfying gameplay experience. Whether it's solo with Bosco or online with three other players it's always been fun for me I have enjoyed it and it's generally challenging when you crank up the difficulty and it's one of the best indie games I have played in recent years.**
