Leading bitcoin exchange Zimbabwe Golix decided to move outside the country because of the pressure of the local Central Bank on the cryptocurrency industry. This is reported by NewsDay.

The head of the development Department of Golix Panashe Taper said that the decision to leave the country is also connected with the plans of the exchange to expand its activities to the whole continent.

"As part of the strategy we launched on June 1, people in Kenya, South Africa and Uganda will be able to start trading with Golix. We want to become the leading crypto — exchange in Africa," he said.

However, it is not yet known which of the three countries will host the new headquarters of the exchange.

Recall, in may, the Central Bank of Zimbabwe banned financial institutions, including the Golix exchange, to conduct operations with cryptocurrencies.

Golix management sent letters to its customers, which called for a temporary stop trading on the stock exchange. Deposits of some clients of the exchange were blocked at the same time.

Despite the fact that later Golix was able to successfully challenge the decision of the Central Bank in court, it did not allow the exchange to quickly restore its work.
