The first release of the Casper the Friendly Finality Gadget (FFG) upgrade code to change the mechanism of consensus on the Ethereum network was published on GitHub for review by external auditors and developers. It is reported by CoinDesk.

According to the developer of Casper FFG,"code version 0.1.0 marks the beginning of a clearer naming of releases, which will help customers and external auditors monitor the contract and changes."

# "Now the contract can use not only the research team: auditors, developers, clients etc. We want to start more clearly identify the version and change logs to assist with the process", — commented on the release of Danny Ryan.

He also added that by publishing code, client developers can now start writing and testing SOFTWARE in their own languages.

It should be noted that the integration of Casper FFG, which will take place in the summer-autumn of this year, will combine the consensus mechanism of Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake. Subsequently, Ethereum developers plan to completely abandon PoW, but the specific time frame for this process has not yet been set.

In the nearest future Casper will be audited and its integration in the main network will be possible only after the developers of the main clients finish their software adaptation to the new mechanism. Since Casper will not be compatible with previous versions of Ethereum SOFTWARE, the upgrade will be done through hard fork.

Recall, at the end of April, Ethereum developers reported that the update of Casper FFG will reduce the inflation rate of the cryptocurrency to 2% per year.
