The hard fork took place on the 1546000 block when the new network software was launched. At the same time, given the nature of the upgrade, the socialists had some doubts as to how smoothly and safely the process had gone.

Historically hardforce network Monero is quite common, and previously, they typically were designed to implement certain enhancements. The current fork, however, stands out because it was primarily aimed at countering Antminer X3 — new miners from Bitmain for cryptocurrencies based on the pow algorithm CryptoNight.

The Monero team almost immediately declared its rejection of Antminer X3, but this did not prevent the "birth" of several cryptocurrency forks, such as Monero Classic and Monero Original.

The developers of Monero, however, initially distanced themselves from all such projects, saying that they have nothing to do with them and do not recommend users to enter private keys to wallets on questionable resources in order to obtain "free" coins.


It should be noted that, despite the stated success of hard fork, not all mining pools, including, for example, Minergate, managed to upgrade. Information about this is presented in a separate branch on Reddit.

Let's add that the new Monero upgrade has also changed such an indicator as the "ring size" — in the new SOFTWARE version it is increased from 5 to 7. This change is intended to increase the level of privacy of transactions and provide protection against the deanonymization vector, which is expected to be presented in another coin fork called MoneroV.
