I will just have to remember that. Is it that simple?

There is an old Science Fiction story, where a cosmonaut had to go to a distant planet for some high engineering work, to stay there 3 years.  After a some months, ground control asks how he is doing?  He complains he is very lonely, but otherwise all is OK.  They (ground control) want to help so ask him to describe his ideal mate.  He makes a list of both physical and personality ideals..., yes his ideals.

Not long after they comply and rocket-fly him a replica which is just that, perfect in all those ways he wished for. But she is a replica, just like in that Blade Runner movie. but one cannot readily tell so. As she seems so real!  He then is so very happy.

After the 3 years are up and the job is finished, he is ready to come home, but the rocket back to earth can only accommodate one person, so he is told to just leave the replica there, so to expire.  When he much objects they tell him: "what you worry remember she is only a replica".

He then answers and laments on...I will have to remember that, I will just have to remember that.  As if sentiments/emotions are just only about erasing memories?  Is it that simple?

So when they tell you next time about just letting it go,  just remember that, "Yes, I will just have to remember that".
