싸이월드 예고없는 서비스중단을 지켜보며

update: 글쓰기 무섭게 살아났습니다.
공지를 봐도 그렇고 여기저기서 기사들이 나오기 시작하니 일단 급하게 살린 모양입니다. 만약에 대비해서 백업의 기회로 삼으시는것도.
----

싸이월드의 예고 없는 서비스 중단이 지속되고 있는 걸보면
소셜 미디어에서 한번 힘을 잃은 서비스가 회생하기가 얼마나 힘든 지를 알 수 있다.

또한 비록 성격은 조금 다른 방향이었지만 프리챌의 유료화 시도,
싸이월드의 지나친 과금정책 등에서도
소셜 미디어 자체를 어느 정도 정상적으로 즐기기위해 유저입장에서 돈이 필요한 서비스가 성공하기가 얼마나 힘든지를 보여준다.

의미 있는 규모 이상의 소셜 미디어, 나아가 IT서비스가 성공할 수 있는 방법은 현재로써는

- 광고수익
- 유료구독(넷플릭스, 웹툰 미리보기처럼 돈을 내지 않으면 볼 수 없는 서비스, 돈을 내고 싶을 만한 컨텐츠가 있을때 가능)
- 광고를 없애는 구독서비스(유튜브 프리미엄 등)

뿐이지 않을까 싶다.

사실 진정 제대로된 보상이 주어지는 소셜미디어를 만들거면
스테이블 코인만 사용하고 광고수익을 나누면 된다.

보상이 토큰 가격에 연동되어서는 토큰 가격 하락시 부작용이 너무 크다.

사실 코인도 필요없다. 유튜브가 비록 동영상에 한정되어 있지만 광고수익을 현금으로 나눠주고 있지 않은가.

블록체인 기반으로 탈중앙화한다면 여기에 좀 더 나아진 검열저항성(및 그에 따른 부작용)이 추가되고 대신 그만큼 불편해진 UX를 감수해야하는 것이다.

가장 힘든 부분은 유의미한 광고수익을 얻는 네트워크를 만들기가 힘들고
그런 네트워크를 이미 가지고 있는 곳은 유저와 최대한 수익을 나누고 싶어하지 않는다는 점.

결국 광고 아니면 구독. 어쩔 수 없는 것 같습니다. 

둘다 숫자를 늘리는 것이 제일 중요하고...

* 구독료를 확 올리는 "고급" 유료구독은 숫자가 많지 않은게 좋겠지만, 그건 드문 일이니 논외로 하겠습니다.

ㅎㅎ그런데 어디든 다 그렇지 않을까요. 원래 부자들이 더 독하다는 말도 있듯. 언제 망할지도 모르는데 잘 나갈때 비축해놔야지란 논리를 펼수도 있고^^

페북도 힘을 잃어가고는 있는 중이니 이런 틈을 타서 괜찮은 서비스가 나올 가능성이 없지는 않을 것 같으면서도 한편으로는 이게 단순히 페북에서 타 서비스로의 이동이 아닌 소셜미디어 서비스 자체의 인기가 전반적으로 쇠퇴하는 느낌도 듭니다.

네 검열저항성 부분도 함께 언급한 것처럼 확실히 trade off가 있는 것 같습니다. 유튜브만한 인프라를 갖춘다는 것자체가 너무 힘들다보니 일단은 나중에 잘릴 위험이 있더라도 유튜브에 둥지를 트는 것이 현실인 것 같습니다.

그렇죠?ㅎㅎ 그게 한번 망했다가 여기저기 거쳐 그냥 있는듯 마는듯 지내다가 블록체인 붐타고 클링이라는 코인만들면서 재기를 노렸지만 현재의 상태입니다.

이전에 한번 살아났을때 백업기회를 줬었는데 그땐 그냥 귀찮아서 안했는데 흑역사긴 해도 다음에 잠시 기회를 주면 백업이나 받아봐야겠네요^^ 근데 이렇게 예고도 없이 장기간 중단되는 거 보면 그런 기회가 올지 부터가ㅠㅠ라고 했는데 그새 살아났네요?ㅎㅎ 공지가 한참 이전것이고 뭔가 임시로 살린느낌
