The only constant in all known history is change. Change happens all the time in every imaginable aspect of everything we know. Even change itself is changing. The rate of technological change is increasing exponentially as opposed to linearly (as it used to in 99.999% of human history), the former being a concept humans have a lot of trouble dealing with.

That's why when people ask me if crypto is the future, I like to take Elon Musk's advice in facing any problem. Get down to what you know with the highest certainty is true and move on from there. What we know is true is that the financial system as we know it will change, it's just a matter of time. Most people don't even seem to accept this as being true because they think linearly.

What else do we know is true? Anyone with an internet connection can send a message to the other side of the word free of charge and instantaneously at any time of day. This is because it is digital information. Transactions which banks carry out for us are also digital information. But for some reason we have to wait days, pay high fees and trust banks to carry out these transactions. Oh and of course they're only open 9 till 5 Monday to Friday. This should sound absurd to even the most amateur of futurists.

Therefore, whether or not crypto is the answer should not be your question. Your question should be :

"In what world will our rate of technological improvement continue at its current pace while our financial system as we know it remains the same?"

If our financial system as we know it is backward and flawed and due for a revolution, what form of currency or technology is most likely to revolutionise it?
