Mining cryptocurrency has become alternate way to generate revenue by Ad stuffed websites

Internet is full of websites which share free content of all type. They previously generated their revenue by displaying ads. Now there are many ad blocker extensions available in all major browsers. Opera is featuring builtin Ad-Blocker. So it has  blocked the revenue stream for many websites.

Monero(XMR) is very popular nowadays because it can be mined via CPU. Few weeks back, one of the famous torrent website [ThePirateBay](https://thepiratebay.org/) was caught mining and stealing hardware resources of all those users who visited this site. ThePirateBay made a whooping sum of **$12,000/month** by mining cryptocurrency and this is just one example. There are currently estimated 220 popular websites who are doing the same thing **without user consent.** 

I agree that if all these kinds of websites are providing free uncensored content to download, then there should be some reward for that. The major violation is that they are doing that without notifying the user. What they can do is that just notify the user on main page about  using their hardware resources, so user will not further get confused by his/her slowing down of computer and will know the reason behind it.

If you don't want to share your resources  and fully stop anonymous mining then there are some extensions available to stop this. You can check out following links

I do not know much about crypto-mining. But you have a very simple and fluid and easy way of explaining, @bluemist. I understood the concept. It is very interesting. 3 things come to my mind - 

1- Nothing is for free. If someone is offering you something for free and running a business, you need to figure out how are they generating their revenues.
2- You eventually have to pay for everything you get or use ;) .
3- What the websites can do is - "Just notify the user on main page about using their hardware resources, so user will not further get confused by his/her slowing down of computer and will know the reason behind it". 
Again , I must say, a very relevant information. And you explain things very well , @bluemist :) . Super Upvote :)
