Why Steem allows self-voting it's a mystery to me.

Even if it was banned then people would do it indirectly. I know some people vote up their comments 'for visibility', but they usually give more than necessary for this. Some cynically vote up every comment they do for pure profit. It's good to have freedom, but it's bound to be abused.
