Aaron Schwartz, an programming genius, committed suicide as he was prosecuted for a slew of criminal offences stemming primarily from his attempts to download and distribute various data records available to the pubic at a price. The bulk of such records were research articles stemming from research paid for by taxpayers' funds.

Schwartz was facing decades of prison time. As it was his belief that such records should be in the public domain he could not bring himself to accept a plea deal and admit any sort of wrongdoing. And so he faced more prison time than many murderers would ever see.

A very tragic and infuriating story. A story that must not be forgotten as we must keep his memory alive.
