We don't just get a fresh start, we become entirely new beings, the old self governed by sin, shame and fear dies in its place rises. Someone reborn by the spirit of God this transformation is not external but internal supernatural and irreversible from saul to paul a living example one of the most dramatic demonstrations of this truth is seen in the life of saul who became paul in ***Acts 9***. Saul was a fierce persecutor of christians feared for his zeal in arresting believers but on the road to damascus he encountered Jesus that encounter didn't just blind him temporarily, it redefined his entire identity but the lord said to him go for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the gentiles ***Acts 9:15***. ***The lesson***. No one is beyond transformation. Saul's past didn't disqualify him it prepared him to testify of grace. When we come into christ our history doesn't hinder us it becomes a platform for God's glory. Identity replaces the past activity, often we equate change with changed behavior but God's transformation begins with identity, not activity. When God calls you a new creation he's not asking you to act new, he's telling you that, you are new, the behavior flows from this new identity. Consider Jacob, the deceiver ***Genesis 32*** after wrestling with God was renamed Israel which means he struggles with God, his identity changed before his circumstances did, still limped and still had family trouble but his namea nd spiritual legacy shifted permanently. Your name shall no longer be called jacob but israel, ***Genesis 32-28***. ***Lesson***. True change is not about sin management but identity transformation you don't become new by striving you are made new by surrender. The new creation walk, so how do we live as new creations. Renew your mind, transformation continues as we let God's word reshape our thoughts, put off the old self. This is a daily choice to reject the lies of the past and embrace truth, abide in Christ. Remaining connected to him produces fruit effortlessly, just like a branch connected to a vine. Final Reflection. Butterfly Faith. A caterpillar doesn't strive to become a butterfly. It yields to the process. Similarly, in Christ, our transformation is God's work in us, not our effort. The process is long, but when we emerge, we fly.
