Back to Mining ! RX 480 back in ACTION!
It's the moment I've been waiting for - busting out those old RX480 out of hibernation and back into Mining! These AMD graphics cards were collecting dust during the summer due, as summer days made it very uncomfortable to mine. Now that its 15 degrees Celsius here, its time to heat things up!!

I would recommend buying coins directly over building a new rig since profitability is likely to go down so your return time of investment could be extremely long. POS is comming but no one knows when, this would make mining ETH impractical, but there are other coins that will remain profitable. https://www.whattomine.com is a great place to check what you can mine and profit the most. I recommend to use nicehash to know the mining power of your rig for different coins to fine tune the settings at https://www.whattomine.com since the default values tend to be inflated. With this in mind, you will recover your initial investment anyway, but buying coins directly can bring you immediate returns (or losses)

I just started mining a month ago, first on Nicehash (oh well) and now eth on nanopool. I only have a GTX 1050 Ti - it doesn't give off much heat - people said it would but it doesn't. Mining was fun and a learning experience. Not much profit. I have been in HashFlare which has been going great for mining BTC.  But now they raised the price on a SHA-256 contract by almost 50%.

1080Ti are easily available in the market. But finding Vega series is like cracking hard nuts. They are out of stock since a month. Don't know when they will come back in the market. Even if they are restocked there is no guarantee that they will  be affordable.

I've had run the same two RX480 configuration since April. Profitability is no where as high as it was at the middle of the year, but if you already have de equipment, you can get some tangible profits. With the recent ETH price increase you should be mining around 4 USD of ETH every day. As long as your electricity cost is not crazy high, that is quite profitable. Keep in mind that profitability tends to go down over time due to more miners joining the network, so I would not recommend to buy new equipment since you may not recover your initial investment before your hardware or mining itself becomes obsolete. Buying ETH directly may have higher potential to give you profit, but there's also the risk of the price going down.

I am currently mining with AMD Rx 470. I am using minergate to mine Bytecoin and Monero. I am still new to this altcoin thing. Because of this reason i am using Minergate. Mining really requires a good learning curve.  I am a hardware guy. Surely it won't take me long to get accustomed to it.  Since this is a month of December, i am little busy too. Thus minergate seems to be a solution for easy going.
