Friday Finance 1/21/2022: I'm not a millionaire?

It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.

For some reason I feel like I have been putting off writing this post his morning. Perhaps it is the dalliance that BTC is having with 38K. I know a lot of people think that that is going to be the make or break point. If it drops below that 32K and even 20K is not off the table.

I honestly don't think any of us can accurately predict what is going to happen from here, but what I do know is that crypto keeps crypto-ing, and taking a break just because the bull run is would be a huge mistake

So here we go:

I know @cryptictruth has been pointing out the flaws in crypto currency lately and while I agree with him on some of the points, I just find this commercial really funny.

I think all of us have been in a similar position of the guy in the commercial. That's what I find funny about it. The over-all message about how volatile crypto is, probably isn't he narrative we want getting out there, but that doesn't make it any less true.

I am sure all of us can remember a couple of weeks ago when Hive was up around $3 and some of our accounts were worth over six figures for the first time. It was pretty magical.

Just as quickly, we are sitting here at sub $1 Hive and the hurt is real.

Great time to buy some more, but the fact remains, cryptos are volatile right now... This is the way.

If I were to take any issue with this commercial, it would probably be the fact that TurboTax claims to know exactly how to handle crypto currency taxes. The IRS doesn't even know how to handle them, so I can't really see how Intuit/TurboTax thinks they have a leg up on the entity who is actually collecting them.

Personally, I will continue to enjoy this commercial simply because the guy makes saying "I'm a millionaire", "I'm not a millionaire" dang funny.

### Crypto Brings Countless Opportunities

I think those of us who are here on Hive and its various community front ends know more than most about the benefits crypto can bring. While many people are content to just buy and hold DOGE, ETH, or BTC, there are others who dive into the worlds of DeFi, NFTs, and gaming.

Then there are the other people (like us) who realized there is even more to offer like blogging, content creation, and collaboration.

I was hit head on last night with what people in that third category really have to look forward to.

About a month or so ago I [wrote a post](https://peakd.com/hive-140217/@bozz/metropolis-origins-are-you-missing-out) about a game on the WAX blockchain called [Metropolis Origins](https://www.metropolis-origins.com/). I shared it with one of the people in the closed Metropolis group that I am in on Telegram. He seemed really impressed with it and then the matter kind dropped.

Well, a couple of weeks later he shares with me that it somehow got into the Developers hands and they shared it on their official Discord channel.

Another person in our closed group took a look and was also very impressed, and this is where things get really crazy.

They offered me a job!

Now, I've done some professional writing in the past, but mostly I just blog here on Hive for fun.
I likely won't take them up on it because I am in a career job right now already and I am nearly at the point where I will be fully vested for my pension. I don't think I could just throw that away for something like this.

It's a tough choice though because not only was it a job offer, it was one of those job offers where they say "what kind of number would it take for you to to this full time for us". I've never been in one of those "name your price" situations and I have to admit, it is very tempting!

The other thing that has me on the fence is the fact that I write because I enjoy it. If I had to do it as an actual job, I don't think it would be as fun. I'd hate to lose my joy for writing.

Bottom line, as you can see, crypto has the potential to open all kinds of doors for us, not just the ones that probably brought you here in the first place. There are countless opportunities out there for us crypto faithful!

Wow it's nice to see that your writing could of netted you a new job. Crypto is full of opportunity but I do feel like I would lose a little bit of the drive if all I had to think of was to earn money. It might be fun if you enjoy it but you might end up with a few tasks you just hate and it goes downhill.

Swings and slides along with everything else, finances are walking knife edge after putting the world on hold for almost two years.

Being given an offer think it over carefully, as mentioned your pension is a strong factor to consider. Love of writing when it becomes your monthly income may alter the love of enjoyment you have.

Either way it is a huge privilege having an offer like this, well done!

Yeah, I think I am going to take it as a real honor and compliment and then just move on with my life as usual. I did mention to them that I was open to the idea of working on a contract basis,but anything full time would just be out of the question.

The thing about cryptocurrencies is it allows for opportunities and possibilities in people's lives.  This is not something we commonly find in our everyday world.

It is what will change the lives of many others.

I am not sure if crypto will ever not be volatile, I think this way cause we will always have no projects coming and going leaving lots of room for money to move around. 

Maybe we see some coins like BTC with little less volatility but as a whole I see it being this way.

Think about stocks and how volatile it would be if it was open 24/7 and no matter the dump or rise it don't get closed down. 

Maybe trading and assets should be volatile 🤔 

Just my thoughts haha

Those are really great points.  I would have to agree with you there.  I think to some degree I am not sure I ever want things to not be volatile. Perhaps not so much, but if everything is stable it kind of takes the fun out of it a bit doesn't it?  Sure, it probably gives the tokens more utility, but we gotta take some moon shots every now and then right?

There will be aspects to it which will decline the volatility simply due to an increase in size.  It is so small, relatively speaking, that it cannot help but to be volatile.
