Big surprise right? The great big FUD monster has been dogging us hard this past week. Gensler is up to new shenanigans and I can't help but wonder what his endgame is. Is he just burning every bridge he can on his way out or does he have a bigger long game in mind?
![finance Friday.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQme5uaCb3grqz9PCLBoQT8UiHjJBK6kCtgpWcKZzX1PXTW/finance%20Friday.png)
---------- *It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.* I was pretty surprised to see the list of 10 or 12 tokens that the SEC is now considering to be securities. I'd be lying if I didn't say I own quite a few of them. In fact, a few of them are some of my regular buys on Coinbase. Which makes me wonder if I should keep doing that or just consolidate everything into BTC. That kind of seems like the smarter play right now, but then again I don't know. Does BTC really feel any "safer" than any of the other tokens? I know many times people compared the current cryptocurrency space to the early days of the Internet and the dot com space. Did they have this much negativity and a virtual witch hunt going on? I honestly can't remember. It's easy sometimes to let all this FUD bring you down, so instead, I am choosing to think of something nicer. Ice cream and sweets to be exact. My last post about our recent trip to Findlay, OH will include a visit to [Dietsch Brothers](https://dietschs.com/), a wonderful little shop in the downtown area. This is going to be a #marketfriday post sponsored by @dswigle. You should check out her stuff if you haven't already! https://images.hive.blog/DQmbCpdWh8jSDS1esL3ohMRVaezpz7YPBjbnnPv1HCZbWpx/IMG20230603195911.jpg https://images.hive.blog/DQmY1JPjGQzAb2NyB4puR4LoAfycL7LcvC6AfTQckvFSgbh/IMG20230603195926.jpg ------------------- The building itself is actually pretty unassuming. If you didn't know what you were looking for you would probably drive right by it and not even realize it. There are some small hints if you look really closely, but from the outside it just looks like another brick office building among a sea of other office buildings. https://images.hive.blog/DQmXRkBPh4LUJzY3LbceTnxpfCz2EwvFYLz7vubGY16mxLz/IMG20230603194715.jpg https://images.hive.blog/DQmX8bDPCHZE8UEvuSNMj3abHyJUzQtaiLLhwzsRo99qPKx/IMG20230603194436.jpg https://images.hive.blog/DQmUEfgu5uuWwYUfF3VuVT7fPnm9DDSGcD5TCUxpnVuEsA5/IMG20230603194438.jpg -------------------- I once again apologize for the photos that are a bit blurry. There was quite a line of people in the store when we got there later on Saturday night and I didn't want to bring too much attention to ourselves. We have a small shop near where I live that is quite similar to this place. It has been there for at least 50 years and going there was always a treat when I was younger. I got that same vibe as soon as I walked through the doors of this place. The long counters of chocolate covered goodness were just begging for me to buy at least one of everything. https://images.hive.blog/DQmWZrwCnuQez5HH12z4vyEZC5Yfw13DUrCqMRcTjEbhzaa/IMG20230603195306.jpg ---------------------- Unlike the place at home, Dietsch Brothers have a ice cream counter tucked around the corner and that is what had brought most people to the establishment after a long hot day in Findlay, OH. They had so many flavors to choose from. I didn't think I would be able to narrow my choice down to just one or two, so I ended up getting a chocolate malt and it was fantastic! https://images.hive.blog/DQmcikeNLb7gb279mGbA2q4G14hTvammVKBBzT2PDkuhGzi/20230603_195459.jpg ------------------- It's the little businesses like this that really make a town a place you want to visit. Someone brought that up in the comments of [my post yesterday](https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@bozz/the-bourbon-affair-a-modern-speakeasy) and it really stuck with me. Sadly, since Covid, many of these places have had to close up shop or change their business model, but there are a few stalwarts like Dietsch Brothers that keep chugging along. @mrsbozz got a package of chocolate covered pretzels that she is still rationing so she can make them last as long as possible. I've snuck one or two over the past week and I have to admit, they are delicious! While we visited the original store, they do have another location in Findlay, OH. If you are ever over this way, I highly recommend you stop in and try out one of their confections. It's definitely worth it. For the sake of your sanity and for a little indulgence! ----------
### [Sports Talk Social - @bozz.sports](https://www.sportstalksocial.com/@bozz.sports)
----------
![TEAMUSAhive_footer_bozz.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/bozz/fXpCTKUZ-TEAMUSA-hive_footer_bozz.jpg)
----------
*All pictures/screenshots taken by myself or @mrsbozz unless otherwise sourced*
Posted Using [LeoFinance Alpha](https://leofinance.io/@bozz/friday-finance-692023-market-friday-dietsch-brothers)

Thing is, depending on exactly how they are defined, much of the crypto space could be considered securities. I sometimes think things are kept poorly defined just to give them wiggle room to go after anything they don't like. The early internet had tons of negativity. Most of the Boomers were always talking about how pointless it all was, what a waste of time and electricity. When the dotcom era started, the complaining only intensified. Then you had farright loons like FoxNews who were always running hit pieces about how the internet was destroying society. Foxnews had just started so they weren't quite as extreme as they have become, but they still didn't like the internet. It's hard to say if the negativity surrounding crypto is worse or the same. I think it is safe to say that any new technology faces a lot of backlash.

> Thing is, depending on exactly how they are defined, much of the crypto space could be considered securities. I sometimes think things are kept poorly defined just to give them wiggle room to go after anything they don't like. While that may be true, I think the folly is them trying to apply old rules to new technologies. This is a whole different beast and while according the 50 year old Howey rule it might be considered a security, it is actually so much more. There should be new rules. That's my opinion anyway. I was too busy hanging around bulletin boards to really remember what the temperature was of the Internet at the time. I'm glad you recollect!

I totally agree. New technologies need new rules. Ah but then it becomes a generational fight again. The old guard likes how things already work and don't want to change it. This is going to be a rough patch as we work this all out, but I have high hopes things turn out ok.

I was answering the dot com question and reading it back and decided that I would leave that to the experts. The only thing I can say is that my investments have lived to tell. Lack of greed and ignorance rarely pays off. Anyway, to me, there is something so personal about these places, even if you are in there for the very first time, it beckons you to come back. The quiet unassuming outside is pretty understated, but, once inside, you see he doesn't need it. It works, just the way it is. I know of a few places like this, and believe it or not, many are ice cream-based shops (with other things for sale in there) or hole-in-the-wall burger/taco/sandwich place, but they are almost never high-end places, they are where real people go. :) Over where the Chincoteague ponies live on a small island on the Virginia coast is a local ice cream shop called *Island Creamery* that has flavors like Marsh Mud, Pony Tracks, Vanilla Butterscotch, Java Jolt, Cherries Jubilee... I can never decide! You are right~ These places have all but disappeared during covid, they are run with (usually) low-profit margins. But, when I find one, I do all I can to spread the word. Funny, I was born/raised on the Coast of Connecticut and we still have many of those places, some as far back as my childhood, but, people don't live so much in the suburbs, but towns that highly support these places, although I saw during covid... some of them retired. But, I still go back home and enjoy these places. Some even remember me although I haven't lived there in years. Le sigh. Thanks so much for taking us along with you! Now I suddenly want some chocolate-covered pretzels! I made some of them this Christmas! (although it was around Thanksgiving/Christmas) I made the chocolate-covered pretzels and the almond bark ones. They WERE pretty good!!! But nothing trumps getting a box of them in the mail! #MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. *Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday*

I was really hoping to find some seafoam candy in this place, but they didn't have any. I guess I will just have to wait for my mom to make it again next Christmas. The store we have near us that is like this is very conspicuous. They have a big banner around the outside and the building is multiple colors. They freely announce themselves as "The Nut House" even though the real name is St. Laurent Brothers Fine Nuts. It used to be my favorite store as a kid but we only drove over to the city where it is once or twice a year. Then when I lived in that city for three or four years I hardly ever went there!

Seafoam candy?? You can make your own. I took the liberty of passing off the recipe I use! You can find it [here.](https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/15204/old-fashioned-sea-foam-candy/) I found it perusing the recipes for something else and I snagged this one. I like *The Nut House!* That sounds like a fun house, doesn't it? That is the thing about things that we can't have... we want them until they are available and suddenly, they are not so needed. :)

I've no idea what s going on with mainstream crypto and the SEC but it has left me uncomfortable, so I just converted all I had into LTC and moved it onto HIVE tonight. I didnt have a lot, but felt better with it being somewhere, where I understand the tokenomics better. Although it means I've got more eggs in one fewer baskets, but as said, it wasnt a huge amount. I still really like BTC, but just dont feel comfortable with it at the moment. I guess we'll see what happens in the coming weeks and months.

BTC is pretty safe I think. Too many big names in it. Plus, we will see what happens with Gensler now that they are trying to push a bill through to remove him.

Yeah, I am going to need to rethink some of my investments I think. Might be better to consolidate down during these uncertain times.

Always enjoy it when you mix Finance with real-life pics. I am not in the US but sold all my ADA and 60% of my MATIC, I just expect them to be drawn down by this FUD over the summer and as I expect that dip over the next 6 months I think the biggest impact will be on those "security" coins. Yes BTC is safer, but not as profitable but I have to admit that 55% of what I hold is BTC, all profit is in ALTS and I will buy the ADA back at 0.19 cents but current risk-reward is not good on those Gensler coins.

I've been DCA'ing into the other ones. MATIC and ADA included as well as COTI. Pretty much every token I DCA besides BTC they called out!

Hope you sold them before the dump. I sold off my ADA over the last couple of weeks, Sold 60% of my MATIC when the news came out so I am left with a bit of COTI and a bit of MATIC this crash still hurts but definitely not as bad as it would have if ith happened 6 weeks ago.
