Today I'm having another look at the ratings for @splinterlands Rebellion cards on [SplinterGuide](https://splinterguide.com/list/monsters). I've made a few changes to the ratings algo over the last few months, and most importantly I've playtested every card in Rebellion quite thoroughly. I'll look at the card list with a focus on Diamond+ (since that's where I play and what I know best), bucketed by rarity, and highlight a few cards from the lists each time.

### Rebellion Common Cards

- **Top rated Common card:** Seeing Nimbledook Scout at the top here doesn't surprise me. I use this card a lot, with its low mana cost and blast at the highest level. Sandwiched between 2 weapon trainers, it's absolutely deadly.
- **Other no-attack cards:** Several other no-attack cards are towards the top, notably Daigendark Surveyor (which is incredible with Daarg) and Lurking Puffer (fantastic with Moxian Rebel and in low-mana rulesets). In fact I use Daigendark Surveyor even more than Nimbledook Scout due to the strength of the Water splinter.
- **Gobalano Solider:** This guy is an absolute beast, particularly in melee only rulesets where people tend to stick powerful tanks like the Dumacke Orc at the back. Gobalano breaks this guy's armor before the battle even starts, finishing him off in the following round.
- **Potentially over-rated:** Meriput Magician is fantastic, but might be a bit high, and I think a big part of that is the existence of Venari Crystalsmith which, at 4 mana, performs a very similar role (minus back-line protection). Ulundin Overseer is also a bit high to me - I just don't find myself using him much given his cost and the high number of other great no-attack cards.
- **Potentially under-rated:** Ujurak Mystic is under-rated IMO, as it is very useful in specific settings (e.g. low mana magic only, or weak magic rulesets). It's super fast as well. Albahoo Forester may also be a bit low as I use it a lot with Aves Sturgis (the Life magic weapon trainer).
- **F-tier cards:** Hopefully these guys will get some value in the future, but for the time being the likes of Kha'Zi Fire Mage, New Sskah Drudge, and Chaos Lackey are bench players at best.

### Rebellion Rare Cards

- **King of Modern:** Grimbardun Smith is currently the undisputed MVP of Modern League. He's annoyingly resilient, pairs tremendously well many cards (my favs: Lily, Daarg, and Avina), and can often take a battle by himself. He's the #1 priority right now, and currently the best card in Modern.
- **Moxian Rebel:** I wouldn't call her a "close #2" to Grim Smith, but Moxi is an absolute beast. Being neutral, she's just as flexible as Grim Smith, but even more so due to the 4 mana cost. She pairs well with Grim Smith and with all the great Common no-attack cards. Camouflage adds added utility due to her relatively low health, but 1 armor does give her a bit of extra resilience. An overall terrific card.
- **Resilience machine:** Anasth Soothsayer is another of my favorite cards. The "new Truthseeker" has a mountain of support abilities, with heal+cleanse to keep the folks up front alive, lookout to protect the backline, dispel to remove things like martyr and bloodlust, and dodge for its own survivability.
- **Anachron Bolter:** This guy may be "under-rated" frankly. Paired with Rathe, the repair is terrific, and paired with Iziar the dual attack can really snowball.
- **Potentially over-rated:** While I LOVE Wailing Wraith in certain circumstances, she's a bit squishy and a bit too slow to really have a regular place in the lineup. Chaos Jailer's cool with his ambush+poison combo but the 2 attack is really "meh" and if you don't hit that poison he becomes a bit of an expensive addition. Pirate of Eight is also too squishy in general.
- **Potentially under-rated:** Silverblade Fighter, as @bulldog1205 pointed out in one of his videos, is incredibly powerful when paired with the likes of Jared Scar or Mantaroth, and also works as a great tank thanks to the Void Armor. Argarux Magus probably doesn't get enough love from my algo and can be a winner in certain rulesets (e.g. Fog of War). Finally Blackmoor Nymph deserves to be a bit higher given the immunity and high health for only 3 mana. Torch Myrmidon may also deserve a slightly higher score with the flank, though 8 mana is too much for him generally.

### Rebellion Epic Cards

- **Overall thoughts on Epics:** In general I actually feel the Epics are the weakest class in Rebellion. There are some great cards, but I do find myself using Epics less overall.
- **Captain Fellblade:** This one's terrific, and one of only TWO cards in all of Splinterlands with a sneak magic attack. This can destroy the Ever-Hungry Skull or Dumacke Orc stuck in the back in melee only rulesets. Fun tip: pair her with Prunda (the Life/Water dual element summoner) and Iziar to get a super buff Fellblade - you're welcome.
- **Croire - over-rated?:** While Croire looks great on paper, I don't find myself using him much. Perhaps I haven't quite figured him out, but he generally feels rather squishy (dies easily, despite the heal) and Earth may not be the best pairing for a melee weapon trainer card.
- **Satha:** I think she's probably under-rated. My win rate with Satha is quite high (>70%) and as one of only 2 modern ranged cards with Tank Heal she adds great utility. Paired with Lily and Grim Smith in the front, put her in the second position to protect Grim Smith with Lookout.
- **Avarisdeus:** Waka's best buddy!
- **Great Porcupine - potentially under-rated:** I like this card, at 3 mana with thorns to stick in the back or front (w/ close range), but the 5 health means he'll usually die in 2 attacks.
- **Forget about 'em:** Infernal Firestorm, Redwyrm Hatchling, Executioner Kraan, Thanalorian Scion... these guys are warming the hell out of your bench.

### Rebellion Legendary Cards

- **Mantaroth:** The highest rated Legendary card is our other Rebellion promo card, and it's well deserved. With repair, shield, armor strike, true strike, and blast, it's packed with skills. While it has its "best rulesets" (anything that favors melee of course) it's also very versatile with the help of flank cards and certain summoners (e.g. Possibilus LOVES Mantaroth). Note that in earlier leagues (Bronze/Silver) Mantaroth is significantly less OP.
- **Daarg - should he be 1st?:** I actually use Daarg >40% more than I use Mantaroth, and a lot of that has to do with Grim Smith who is Daarg's best buddy. But Daarg has many other buddies, including Daigendark Surveyor and Merdaali Guardian (to keep the Smith alive). At level 4 with 3 magic damage, it's absolutely deadly and can even be used in low mana battles (e.g. Kelya + Daigendark Surveyor + Daarg + Chaos Agent = 14 mana!). Daarg is a beast and could potentially be the #1 legendary card in Rebellion.
- **Goff and Rush:** Both of these cards have terrific utility and are more than slightly situational. Rush pairs very well with Jacek as well as other summoners, and often swings the battle right off the bat with his ambush and massive attack. Goff, meanwhile, pairs extremely well with Iziar and also gives cards like Mantaroth an extra boost (do they need it?) - consider a lineup like "Silverblade Fighter > Mantaroth > Iziar > Anachron Bolter > Adelade > Goff". That's a lot of firepower.
- **Potentially under-rated:** The algo gives Barashkukor a pretty low score and I think that's unwarranted. Under certain rulesets, and in high mana caps, Barash is deadly. Faust is also probably too low, if only because of the 3 magic attack with Life Leech. It's just a bit hard to get Faust going. Endura Brune is also a bit low IMO, given all the protective skills; however 2 ranged attack is just really low for a 9-mana card.
- **Right where they should be:** I feel Bera, Nalara, and Solace are right where they should be in the middle of the pack. They all have specific use cases and utility but they're not versatile enough to really shine consistently. With that said they are very balanced. Solace might be one I would consider lowering a bit, as I find myself rarely finding a use for him.
