Jetzt hat Amazon die Gunst der Stunde ausgenutzt und will jetzt auch in der Logistik führend werden. Die angeschlagenen Airlines weltweit müssen ihre Maschinen am Boden stehen lassen, da weniger Passagiere befördert werden wollen. Eine zusätzliche Belastung sind momentan die Frachtkosten, denn mit den Passagieren wird auch immer Luftfracht transportiert. Die steigenden Preise durch Corona könnte man jetzt hinnehmen aber nicht Amazon. Der Vorteil den dieses Unternehmen hat ist ziemlich eindeutig, es besitzt sehr viel Kapital und das sitzt auch in Krisenzeiten locker.
Zuvor wurde jede Fracht durch Dienstleister abgewickelt, FedEx ist da wohl ein Schwergewicht in dieser Branche. Diese Branche wird jetzt wohl aber auch systematisch von Amazon übernommen, denn jetzt wurden die ersten eigenen Maschinen gekauft. Laut eigener Pläne sollen in der nächsten Zeit mehrere Hundert Flugzeuge gekauft werden und die Infrastruktur natürlich auch.
