It is hard to stay whole 
when there is monsters in the shadows 
and beasts in the sun

You are a wanderer by heart
with earth and sweat on your brow
your hands worn down
by harrow and plough
on dirt where memories lay slain.

Fields once painted by blood
now feeds your fruitful days
but the stars, Oh, how they long to guide you
away from humble ways

As your darkness creeps slowly in 
just like a rippling wave 
you become a slave 
to the ebb and flow of the moon.

It is hard to stay whole 
when there is monsters in the shadows 
and beasts in the sun

This is a short but powerful piece I wrote, a slightly darker piece that serves as a reminder that where we are today, stems from days before, and where we head tomorrow is fueled solely by the actions of today, and through it all every single one of us have our own inner demons and battles.

The rhyming pattern of this piece varies slightly as the poem progresses and this amplifies the notion that change is always one action away whether by choice or by consequence.
