Hi Friends,


I was given some grapefruits from a friend’s tree so I was contemplating what to do with them when it hit me – a grapefruit margarita!

I tried doing some google searches but all I got was “confused” so I decided to try it on my own and taste test it along the way.  Here is what my recipe ended up being:

 

- 2 parts squeezed grapefruit juice
- 2.5 parts blanco tequila
- 1 part simple syrup (50% water/50% sugar dissolved in pan beforehand)
- 0.5 parts squeezed lime juice

 

I put this in ice (stirred) with a salted rim and lime wedge – it was great!  A good amount of tart from the citrus and a good kick from the tequila.  Using a 40% abv tequila like I did would make this grapefruit margarita about 17% abv – 4x stronger than a Bud Light, so take that into consideration when enjoying.

Would you give this a try?!

Perhaps a good coping mechanism if Steem drama has you down or a nice beverage to enjoy during the Steem fireworks? Guess it’s all in your perspective!
