A través de una encuesta, se determinó que el conocimiento general de éstas pasó de un 2.9% en 2016 a un 5% en 2017.</p> <p>Las estadísticas indican que los canadienses de entre 45 y 54 años de edad fueron el rango de edad con mayor crecimiento con respecto a la adquisición de bitcoins en dicho periodo, prácticamente cuatro veces más. </p> <p>Por otra parte, el informe también muestra que la brecha de genero entre los dueños de bitcoin se ha acrecentado. Las mujeres se han mantenido al margen con un 2% de la población, mientras que los hombres han dado un paso significativo pasando de 4.2% a 8.1%. Además, es interesante notar que la adquisición de bitcoins no sólo ha crecido en zonas urbanas como en Ontario o Columbia Británica, sino que creció también zonas menos pobladas.</p> <p>Se estima que cerca de 500,000 residentes de Ontario poseen algún tipo de criptomoneda:</p> <ul> <li>Bitcoin: 63%</li> <li>Ethereum: 35%</li> <li>Litecoin 18%</li> <li>Bitcoin Cash: 17%</li> <li>Xrp: 13%</li> </ul> <p>A medida que las criptomonedas continuan expandiendose, las autoridades regulatorias también están observando nuevas oportunidades y amenazas. En Mayo se reportó que los reguladores canadienses y estadounidenses tabajan juntos en una operación conjunta dirigida contra las ICO y las estafas de criptomonedas llamada "Operación CryptoSweep" (Sweep: Barrer).</p> <p><br></p> </html>
