Chances are, if you're on Steemit, that you have an interest in blockchain. It is a very powerful tool that is being implemented in new industries every day. It really makes you think what the world could look like in 10 years. 

**Everyone can be self-employed**
Having the ability to use smart contracts eliminates the need for middlemen. Needless to say, there is no shortage of middlemen in the populous. In North America, the majority of our economy resides in the service sector. Many of these jobs may not be considered a middleman positions at this time. As technology changes, however, so will the need for these jobs. With the aid of smart contracts, everyone can be a freelancer in a sense. 

Take my job for instance; I'm a Service Engineer for Robotics. I'm called in to perform service and maintenance on specialized machines. These large companies like Cadbury and GM have engineers and technicians on site but choose to hire a specialist to spec out parts. With AI and blockchain technology it is not far-fetched to believe that someday there may be machines that can diagnose internal/external problems, order parts, and tell operators/technicians how to fix it. I have spoken with a few companies that are working on Virtual Reality safety glasses that can show you what to look for. Either AI or technical support can see what you see and point to what needs to be fixed. 

This may eliminate the need to have experienced, high paid, technicians and mechanics to do the job if it can potentially turn the average Joe into a handyman. However, it would create jobs to help run this troubleshooting network.

**Travel/Transportation**
Uber was a simple yet revolutionary idea. Even this company's days are numbered though. Uber is a 'middleman' that makes a big profit off of everyone using its app. That very same big profit could be the users' savings if there was a blockchain based travel/transportation network. Peer 2 peer, without the middleman. You could set your own rates and make what you deserve, or not have to pay an arm and a leg for such a simple service. 
You can imagine as technology runs wild and humanity develops better transportation what impact this will have on the world.

**Death of Taxes!**
As more and more people move their assets to the crypto world results in nations having less and less power of their population. It may come to a point where there are not enough people using the nation's currency for them to control the way they're used to. I have yet to meet one person that knows exactly where all tax dollars are spent. This lack of transparency is nothing new. What if taxes became a crowdfunding concept instead of an obligation to pay into a pot without ever knowing how it's spent? It would drive efficiency up theoretically. Want a road fixed? Crowdfunding combined with transparent bidding on a job from a construction company would be better than a company that is buddy-buddy with the government and gets all the good job regardless of price or quality of work.

I think the world has a shot to pull out of all this corruption. We just need to stand together and put our minds to the test at hand.
