Making a Sinterklaas surprise Koala as a present for 5 December at school

<center> in the Netherlands we celebrate Sinterklaas. Its a festive day on 5 December and in school you make a surprise and hide the present inside. Its always a thing and we love to be creative together. This year my son had a girl from his class who is madly in love with koala’s. So we made one.

All made yesterday on a foggy Sunday afternoon, Ofcourse with tea and treats.

The balloon, News-paper, glue, paint, colored paper, gifts , scissors,Time, pencils and brushes to paint and some fabric for the ears.

The way this is made is with a balloon and paper mache. You put on a layer of three, or four, and that needs to dry every time in between.
After that its grey you paint it , we painted it grey like a koala. We than made eyes, nose claws and leaves. Also we made the inside of the ears of a soft fabric.we made paws from a toilet role. We put the new koala on the wouden crate we had from wine and hid the presents under the carton we put in it. We also bought a little stuffed animal, so now there are two. We cut grass and put that on there aswell. The end result is great and we had so much fun. On to next year.

We put a stuffed animal koala next to it and my son said : “you barely see the difference, mum “ , oh well whenever your kid is happy , you are happy. Now lets hope his friend Jonah thinks the same or our grey creation.
