Deontological vs Consequentialist Moral Foundations.
Morality is often separated into these two camps. Deontological ethics are generally considered to be based around rules, where actions are right or wrong in-and-of themselves. Whereas consequentialist ethics care about the outcomes of an action, and its repercussions, in terms of some measurable value such as utility or harm.

Where do you stand?

Do you think they're mutually exclusive?

Is the dichotomy too simplistic?

Do you support an alternative category such as virtue ethics?

Do you have particular problems with one or the other?

@dudealex ·
I think that most of the time consequential ethics are used, rightly. The deontological approach often comes with religion, and it is not always best. A right action is not absolutely always right, a wrong is not always wrong for everyone. I think that there are things that are always right and things that are always wrong, but not most things.
