*** <br> I woke up to a dark and cloudy day this morning. One of the first things I noticed when I came to was the fact that there was a chill in the air, one that could be the prelude to an impending thunderstorm. The minute I noticed it, I had to muffle a curse, because it was already beginning to look like my plans would have to take a backseat. I knew that with the way the weather was going, it was only a matter of time before the rain came. And I wasn’t wrong, less than thirty minutes after I woke up, it started to rain heavily. By then, I was still in bed… because how on earth could I leave it when the weather was so sweet and the sheets were so warm? Anyway, I wasn’t sleeping anymore, but I couldn’t pull myself from the bed either. I just listened to the rain wash away my plans for the morning. And I knew that I would have to make new plans. It couldn’t be avoided. The thing is, there is a place I have to go. It’s an errand I’m running for my Parish CYON. It involves me going to another parish that’s located quite a distance from ours. It would be a long journey, but that isn’t the issue. They were expecting me this morning, but that isn’t the issue. The rain came, and now, I’d have to reschedule. Now, you might wanna know why I’ve called it off totally. After all, the rain won’t fall forever. Besides, now that I’m writing this post, the rain has stopped falling, but I’m still not moving an inch. Instead, I called over to the people expecting me at the church and told them I would come at a later date, before this coming Sunday. The thing is, the church is located in one of the most interior areas here. The roads there are bad, and when I say bad, way worse than what it is back in my school. The last time I went there after a rainfall, I regretted it immensely. Back in my school, in the area I lived in, you couldn’t leave the house for at least thirty minutes to an hour after the rain stopped. Because you have to give the road some time to clear up. If not, you’ll be wading through a flood to get to wherever you want to go. Here, three hours might not even be enough to clear the road. And if you do decide to go anyway, just know that whatever you’re wearing could be ruined. Because you’ll have to walk through murky mud and dirt, and you’ll also have to face the hazard of slipping and falling. I’ve seen it happen. Honestly, I don’t even know how the people in the area make it work. What happens when we get the usual 7 days of constant rain? Will they be locked in their homes all through it? Anyway, another reason I found it easy to call the trip off is that the thing I’m going to drop off is not really on a deadline. It won’t be needed by them until Sunday. And as far as I get it there before Sunday, then it would be okay. So, I could make the trip on either Friday or Saturday Morning, making sure that they get it. *Omo…* it’s not easy. I guess braving the storm and taking the risk would have been fine. However, I just don’t see the point, especially when taking it there today or the day after tomorrow would not really make much of a difference. Besides, what’s the point of stressing the person who was charged with receiving the parcel from me? They would also have to wade through mud and dirt to get to the church, which would be our meeting point. So, it’s just better for everyone for me to keep it for another date. That way, we can all go when it’s better and easier for us to meet. That is something that will work out in everyone’s favor. *** <br> <center>Thank you for reading. Your tale just reminded me of some of the ordeal I passed through growing up on the dirty streets of Aba. Once rain falls, it’s a total no go area because of the mess. It’s so mentally draining. Some days when the rain fall very heavy in the market we would have to wade through very dirty water heaped up on the streets sometimes the water almost getting up to our hips. Sometimes people even die by falling into gutters and being washed away by the flood. Calling off the meeting was just the best option especially when the errand can wait.

So rain interrupted your plan and you were kind of forced to reschedule and your concern is reasonable. Sometimes I also face such a situation.
