> **"Tonight, creative juices were flowing. I've wanted to make some bamboo Hawaiian slings for a while now, and after harvesting some river cane bamboo yesterday, I had the opportunity earlier. My original idea was to take some six foot long bamboo shafts and attach a Hawaiian sling setup at the base, and tip them with a few carp dorsal spines, which are some savage-looking bones. As I was working on them, I remembered the "sea-stinger" spearfishing tip, which allows the speartip to detach and then act as a stop on the end of some wire or line. Basically, after the fish is speared through, the tip comes off and pulls up parallel to the fish, creating a much more secure landing opportunity than if it had remained perpendicular. It'll be a bit before I can test these since the water is so cold right now, but I'm exploring a few different variations to test. As usual, I'm optimistic. Enjoy the photos!"**
