Hey Steemit!

I told you in my last story that I was going to show you a very cool program. Well, here it is!

This program, written in Python, will allow you to send an sms from your computer to a number of your choice (as long as you know their cell provider.) I wrote and developed it myself, and so far all tests have been positive. It works.

**How to get the program.**
Step 1: Download Spyder. (2.7 version).  Or any python interpreter. An easy way to do this would be to download Anaconda - which is a really nice interface that gives you access to a lot of different interpreters including Spyder. https://www.continuum.io/downloads

Step 2: Open Spyder and copy this text. SPACING DOES MATTER OR PROGRAM WILL NOT WORK. Everything must look exactly as it does here except 1 thing. In the boxes where it says (enter username) and (enter password must be gmail) please enter your username and password for your gmail account inside the parenthesis. - http://imgur.com/8x5c6HT <---click on link for code.
Once that is done, save the file to a new folder called "pythonscripts". Call your program send-sms.py

Step 3: Open the Terminal. type "cd pythonscripts". Then, type, "python ./send-sms.py"
You will most likely get an error message saying something about gmail being unsupported. This is fine - click this link which will take you your gmail account dashboard. https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps?rfn=27&rfnc=1&eid=4201859294255048642&et=0&asae=2&pli=1 Click "turn on".  Exit.

Now try again. For linux users, type !! and it will rerun the program. For everyone else...retype this: python ./send-sms.py

Your all done! 
Make sure you fill in the provider section with either verizon, at&t, sprint, or tmobile, depending on the provider of the person you are trying to send the text too. This will eventually be updated in the future for an easier process, but for now this is how to run the program.
You should be prompted as such:
" Phone number/contact: 
Provider:
Message: "
Enter as prompted.
Check your gmail sent mail tab and you should see the message you sent go through without error! The person will receive your text. If they respond, their response will be logged in your inbox as a new email.

And thats all! I hope you enjoy this program, as it can be used for all sorts of things. Pranking your friends without them knowing its you, sending emergency texts when your phone is dead...etc.

Caution - please dont try to contact 911 with this, as im not even sure it will work. You could die if you are in a life threatening situation. This is just for fun.
