What's up, [Feel Good](https://ecency.com/created/hive-190931) community! It's finally September, friends. Summer is over, and the evenings are starting to feel chilly, but that didn't stop me from going out and enjoying the afternoons in the historic center of Caracas. It's one thing to go to Plaza Bolivar in Caracas, but there are many unique spaces in historic Caracas, and one of them is Plaza El Venezolano, formerly known as Plaza San Jacinto. It's located east of Plaza Bolívar and the great Caracas Cathedral. Its origins date back to 1591. This place exudes history in every inch, and proof of this is that the house of the Liberator Simón Bolívar is located in these spaces.

Of course, I have many memories of coming to this plaza as a child. In fact, my best memories have been in this plaza, because of its colonial appearance. This place seems to have stopped in time. Colonial houses still stand, and the streets are cobblestone, as if they were from colonial times. This is the reason why I often come here with my nephew to spend the afternoons, especially now that I'm on vacation and can spend time with him.

Now, the jarring detail in this photograph is the sort of pseudo-obelisk that stands right next to the monument in the plaza. It was built in 2010 to commemorate the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence, and since then, it has divided the Caracas population. Some hate the structure to death, while others have welcomed it because it supposedly gives the plaza an avant-garde touch. I personally think it's very dissonant with the surroundings, since so much has been invested in the historical preservation of these spaces. I don't hate it, but it's clearly not the best place for it.

Well, friends, this was my entry in this week's Phone Photography session, enjoying these autumn sunsets with my nephew. Que tal comunidad de [Feel Good](https://ecency.com/created/hive-190931)! Finalmente es septiembre amigos, terminamos el verano y ya las tardes comienzan a sentirse frías, pero eso no me detuvo para salir a disfrutar de las tardes en el centro histórico de Caracas. Una cosa es ir a la Plaza Bolivar en Caracas, pero hay muchos espacios únicos en la Caracas histórica y una de ellas es la Plaza El Venezolano o conocida anteriormente como Plaza San Jacinto, se encuentra al este de la Plaza Bolívar y la gran Catedral de Caracas, su origen se remonta a 1591, es decir este lugar respira historia en cada centímetro y pruena de ello es que la casa del Libertador Simón Bolívar se encuentra en estos espacios.

Por supuesto tengo mucho recuerdos de venir de chico a esta plaza, de hecho mis mejores recuerdos los he tenido en esta plaza, por su aspecto colonial, este lugar parece haberse detenido en el tiempo, aún persisten casas coloniales y las calles están empedradas como si fueran tiempos de la colonia. Esta es la razón por la que ahora suelo venir aquí con mi sobrino a pasar las tardes, sobre todo ahora que estoy de vacaciones y puedo pasar tiempo con el.

Ahora el detalle disonante en esta fotografía es esa especie de pseudo obelisco que esta puesto justo al lado del monumento de la plaza. Se creo en 2010 en conmemoración del bicentenario de la declaración de la independencia y desde entonces ha dividido a la población Caraqueña una parte odia a muerte esa estructura, otra le ha parecido bien porque supuestamente le da un toque vanguardista a la plaza. Yo personalmente creo que hace mucha disonancia con el entorno que se ha invertido mucho en la preservación histórica de estos espacios. No la odio pero es evidente que  no es el mejor lugar para ubicarlo.
