*We have April 1st and I'm not fooling you, I powered up the liquid Hive I was able to save up during the last month.*

### *Hive Power Up Day happens every 1st of a month and everyone can join in.*

*This is a good thing to do and all the new people joining Hive should learn about it and should not be afraid to join in.*

## Why should I power up my Hive?

When you power up your Hive you gain **more power on your votes.** 

You will notice how the amount of your **voting power is increasing** over time and that gives you the benefit of **receiving more curation rewards** for the content you are upvoting.

**The more HP the more reward, easy as this.**

There is also the benefit that as a stakeholder **your HP is bringing you an interest of 3%** passively per year.

**That's not bad for just holding your HivePower (HP).**

Also there is the possibility of delegating, which is kinda lending some HP to someone and the recipient is giving you a payment on this.

I haven't done the 'delegating' myself but the more I will gain knowledge and HP I will do it eventually.

Also you get a cool **Badge** from the @hivebuzz team.

And last but not least you can **win prizes when powering up on the 1st of a month.**

## So how to power up your Hive?

*It is simple, as you can see on my todays Power up done on PeakD.*

You just **click your wallet button that will be visible  when you click on your account name top right on the screen**.

The wallet opens and you will see your liquid Hive, the **' Hive Tokens (Hive) '** that you can power up (37 in my case).

Also you see your **' Staked Hive Tokens - Hive Power (HP) '** that you have already (771 in my case).

Now you just **click the little arrow on your Hive Tokens (Hive) section** and a window will open.

There you can read **' Power up '**.

**Click ' Power up '** and another window will open.

This will ask you **how much** of your **' Hive Tokens ' you want to Power up and to whom**.

**Add your own name** in the **' To '** section, so you are **powering up to your account**.

Add the amount manually or with the bar you can slide.

Click **' Continue '** when you are done.

Next a window pops up with the information you just added.

You can **check if everything is right before clicking ' Confirm '**, or **' Cancel '** if you want to make changes.

I clicked **' Confirm '** and after a few minutes you will see in the **' Transaction '** section of your wallet that the **' Power up ' has happened**.

Last but not least you will see that your **' Hive Tokens (Hive) ' have been transferred to the ' Staked Hive Tokens - Hive Power (HP) '**.
