I can't believe that you are being punished because you are not continuing with the contests as you were.  It's completely childish of a response.

It's unfortunate that people don't have the testicular fortitude to actually look at the content and will instead just automatically downvote. There are FAR worse things and more spam-ish things on this platform besides your contests. Your contest shouldn't have been considered spam, there are plenty of folks who were starting out on this platform that entered it and won a little bit and helped themselves get started here. The concentration of power for these types of issues is frustrating, they control what content is acceptable but lots of junk is left alone.
I would switch it up and do picture challenges, meme challenges, hell even informational challenges (i.e. read up about something and post in your own words). I think your contests are beneficial to the platform, they give people alternative methods to attain rewards. The large accounts just seem to be bitter that you're spreading out rewards to anybody who enters is what I think the reasoning behind this bogus downvoting is about.

Regardless I want to see you continue posting. I've been a fan of your account since I started on steemit. The hate you're receiving seems orchestrated and methodical. I agree with another commenter from a previous post that I think it has something to do with you creating the bid bot. There are plenty of other accounts that do similar contests get they receive no Flack from higher-ups or whales. I think trying to curtail the contest so that it falls in line with the mindset of the community for what is acceptable is the best course of action. Make the contest photography based- do your own spin on the 7day b&w / color challenge - have the contest Runa week - larger prize - no more daily posts ? - or up the level of quality required for winning if it's writing - or keep it low effort but again do it once a week. Maybe their issue is frequency not the material itself. Just my thoughts.

I don't understand. You've been posting this competition daily for a good long while and you get excellent engagement. Isn't that what the whales want? I wish that they would talk to you and explain what their issue is.

Here is my interpreation of situation :

You can do a contest everyday if you want but don't boost repeating contest posts to the trending.

You need to be able to decouple the nature of post with the post boosting.

I think, if you actually make some content, blog, vlog, article on a certain topic, and then put a contest in it, you can do one every day without worry. 
But, I am not quite sure what were you blacklisted for. Was it your "content" or bot use. In latter case, you just need to stay under the radar somehow. Have your posts lesser value per post so that they don't get into trending. 
In the former case, my initial suggstion should fix the issue.

In my own opinion maybe the random picking of winners is what could encourage spam. I would comment random words that doesn't make sense and if I were lucky I could win which is unfair to those who took the time and effort to create good post. 

For the contest I think you can come up with different contest for a specified day say for Monday it's the usual making comments, next day could be posting a photo, next day creating a drawing, then writing contest. These are just my own ideas.

When I discussed your 40 steem amount and @itstime said something with taking loan of steem power via blocktrade were higher level mechanic that I found a bit harder to decode by myself.

I think the idea you're proposing of alternating the formats of the contest is excellent, or you can simply develop a theme and reward participation in the comments.  I think there are many alternatives to avoid downvote and keep sharing with your followers.

Unfortunately i have no idea how to help you, but i cross my fingers i will get better soon. But if you'll start a new format, it would be fantastic. The idea of "the topic of day" or "the topic of week" sounds great, beacaus it's much wider than a specific topic like meme, sotry, poem, etc. 
So hope you will recover soon and there will be some "interactivity–initiating posts" from you.
