> # Time to manage our own space base! *Spacebase Startopia*
<br>
Once again I've been swamped with work all week but one good thing that happened this week is that I seem to be on the verge of an important promotion, so the week hasn't been too tedious at the office but I've realized that in all this time the only games I've played were Narita Boy again (finally completed it), and Goose Game which has been my favorite game these past few days (although it's a bit short). This along with watching E3 are the reason why I haven't really been playing new games, so when GamesRadar recommended this game I first thought of ignoring it, but as you may know I love all space and sci-fi related content so SpaceBase Startopia, a space station management simulator that is very similar to another strategy game I played recently (Evil Genius 2), so I was hooked right away to buy it. This is my review after about 6-7 hours playing it non-stop.
I didn't know this, but Spacebase Startopia is actually a spiritual sequel to another well-known game at least in this genre, the original title known simply as Startopia included much of what was seen in the strategy games of the time like Dungeon Keeper and transformed them to the space realm, this new installment almost 20 years later rescues some of that energy and deepens it much more to provide a sense that truly our space station depends on us, and between the aliens that come to visit us or even saboteurs or terrorists will make us sweat in what we think may be a simple walk, the work of Realmforge Studios is one that challenges us to build a paradise in the stars but also with the passage of our experience is noticing certain aspects that I have considered confusing and have even taken me out of the experience on several occasions, The lack of polish in its mechanics, however, has not sullied my fun too much and I even think that it has set a challenging learning curve that I am still trying to overcome today.

Spacebase is about management, a topic in video games that is often compared to Free-To-Play mobile games but here we are presented with a much more spectacular version of the genre, from the beginning we have control of our space base that we can customize to the extreme, every corner, Every corner, every hatch and corridor are at our disposal for us to give our taste, but all these customization options have a price and that is to be in constant movement around three platforms that make up your space station and in which we must supply and manage the resources properly for our customers and visitors to arrive and feel comfortable, I tell you that any problem either if there is garbage in the way or any room is too hot negatively affects our space station and may not get too much benefit to our visitors, something that has this game is that it is extremely fast, there is no moment of peace until very late in the game and lose concentration and put an elevator in the wrong place can trigger disaster, That is perhaps something that plays against this title, every mistake seems to be catastrophic for our game and there are not too many explanations so that we can return to maintain order, from a critical error everything is a spiral into the abyss and that may not be entirely fun in the first games.
And is that we must not only ensure that our visitors feel good in our space base but we must also develop ways to collect resources and tools to improve and build new structures, plus we will have to be careful about where we build these new works, how close to others are and be aware of how they interact with each other, creating much more chaos throughout the campaign and more concerns for us. Everything here is related and as soon as we neglect an area and the air becomes dirty we get closer to other problems such as insurrections or crime that are even more difficult to control and solve, the game does not give you time at any time to appreciate what you are building which although it adds realism it takes away a little of the fun factor of the work, everything must be placed so that it is functional for what is next to it so tourist attractions can not be next to factories because visitors have very peculiar ways to complain.

The game has so many options that I'm sure there are simple solutions to the problems I mentioned above but here comes another problem that drags the title from the beginning and perhaps compare it to many titles of the 90s, does not explain too much and just throw the player into the action and hope that after a few hits can understand the mechanics, and I understand, you want to make an experience that challenges the player to understand the system but when there are so many variants and so many options and do not have a basic manual on how your world should work, that sometimes makes the experience becomes frustrating. As well as the problems that we will have to solve as the adventure progresses we will also have objectives that will ensure us certain major rewards such as attracting tourists with higher purchasing power and buying power as well as unlocking certain items, once again there is so much variety in these objectives that it is overwhelming in some parts of the game, there are culinary challenges that we will have to overcome as well as people attracting others to their cults (and in which we will have to help them).

Also with the inclusion of other mechanics such as combat and some other mechanisms that the game has to make us vary the formula and that has so far made Spacebase Startopia me much more like a challenging game of resource management in an environment that is fascinating, full of resources and variants for us to take control of the game, Although it is true that it sins not to expose and explain its mechanics to the player I think it does a great job giving us an experience full of quality and exciting, I've been playing just about 6 hours and it has become clear to me that I still have a long way to go to see all the possibilities that brings the game and that excites me, you can play in short periods of time and whenever you want you can save the game which makes it great for me in these days that I do not have too much time for video games. *Recommended*
