Kraken is back up and running! Bitconnect is still down.

<p>Kraken, &nbsp;one of the largest exchanges out there, &nbsp;was down for a few days after they were supposed to have a scheduled maintenance that was only supposed to last a couple of hours. &nbsp;Many people were panicking over this, &nbsp;but luckily for everyone involved, &nbsp;Kraken seems to be back up and running normally. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Since I don't use this exchange anymore, &nbsp;I am not sure if their update helped speed up the orders. &nbsp;If you still use Kraken make sure to leave a comment on how it is working now that they have completed their update. &nbsp;<br>

In further news, &nbsp;Bitconnect has been down for maintenance for a couple of days now. &nbsp;This is concerning for the holders of this coin and for those that have "lent out" their coin on the Bitconnect platform. &nbsp;</p>
<p>This comes just days after Bitconnect received another cease and desist letter from the state of North Carolina. &nbsp;They are the second state behind Texas to send Bitconnect a cease and desist letter.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I am not sure if this is just the corrupt government of the United States trying to get Bitconnect shut down so their citizens can't continue to earn free money, &nbsp;or if they are trying to legitimately protect their citizens from a ponzi scheme.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Bitconnect has been the center of much controversy and debate about whether or not their service is a ponzi scheme, &nbsp;whether or not it is sustainable, &nbsp;and if or when they would finally pull the plug and go missing with everyone's funds. &nbsp;</p>
<p>One thing is for sure, &nbsp;and that is the fact that many people made millions using Bitconnect. &nbsp;That is not to say that it isn't a ponzi scheme, &nbsp;but it is certainly a fact. &nbsp;I even made a small amount of money from their platform off of lending $300. &nbsp;I never had a problem with a payout, &nbsp;but one must admit that all of these types of lending platforms have the capability and much higher probability of being a scam. &nbsp;Especially as compared to legit cryptocurrencies out there that have real usability and function.&nbsp;</p>

The problems with centralized exchanges are real. It just points out the need for decentralized exchanges.

I've been extremely pleased with Bitshares. I've made quite a bit trading and transfer times are very quick. I learned about #bitshares here on Steemit and I'm so glad I did!

I really do hope this is not Bitconnect's exit play. Although, it may not affect me for I really have known from the start it was Ponzi.
But I know many Steemit friends have invested in it. I sure do hope you take out the funds when it goes live again!
