Year. 2020 still breaking records and Coronavirus taking down long established business's like they are stick toys. #2020memories believe me this year will not just be remembered, it will be used as an example of how to handle future pandemics. If someone you know or love has died from Coronavirus you have my heartfelt thoughts and prayers, in my lifetime I can not recall anything as devastating that has affected lives around our entire planet. But, we can all do our part to support each other - whatever the suffering a few kind words can heal years of pain - look after your family, friends, and fellow Hivers - make no doubt we are all in this together and if you don't hear from someone for a while you normally chat with all the time - reach out, give support - Together we are strong. Last week I introduced you to this [Power Down Post](https://peakd.com/witness/@c0ff33a/power-down-started-you-can-take-a-horse-to-water-but-can-t-make-it-drink-time-to-embrace-the-new-style) - it generated a great deal of interest and that is a good thing - because our blockchain keys and accounts are precious and as your investment grows protecting it has to be a priority.

# Stay Safe

We hear this all the time now, but for the blockchain it is especially important. Our account keys are used all the time, to log into front ends, games, dapps like @splinterlands - and the more we use those keys the easier it becomes for bad actors to trick us into exposing them.

# The phising scams, sneaky Url's you might miss

Maybe you read a post, or visit a popular social website and it has a link on it to Hive, you click the link and it brings up a peakdee.com domain pop up asking for your user name and account key - looks plausible so you enter them.

# But did you really look at that url?

We all know Peakd.com - but you just got duped by Peakdee.com (This is entirely fictional, but it could exist - and no doubt some scammer will read this and do just that) You enter your account name and key on this dupe site and it logs it for the fisher to use later to take over your account - because you gave them you account name and key.

Masks might be the new normal, but looking after your Hive account needs real attention to detail.

# The Cold Wallet

So in my previous post I referenced the idea of Powering Up all your Hive to an account you basically never use to keep the keys as safe as possible, and delegate that Powered Up Hive back to your active account.

And that is working for me, it's not a method that suits everyone but for me it's easier then changing all keys.
