So another random week, last Friday a customer placed a good sized order but needed to pick it up Saturday - I was a little undecided because Saturday I had planned a family Christmas shop day - but they were going to arrive at 10am so I relented and even managed to stack up some extra local deliveries.

But Saturday was really foggy, we get a fair bit of fog and mist in the UK but this was a proper pea souper - lucky to see two car lengths ahead while driving combined with drizzle a grey, cold, damp foggy day. I got the work done by 11am, headed home but we ended up doing Christmas shopping online - aside from the terrible weather Covid just puts you off been in crowds - and walking around shops in a mask - not a fun day. And that's whats killing hospitality - when you don't want to go out shopping for Covid you also are not going out to eat, drink, meet people - Omnicron might not be causing serious illness in people get it - but it's still putting them off going out in the first place and that's killing small business.

Monday was crazy busy with orders, many had finally realised it was their last few days to grab stock before the festive shutdown. But as with past few weeks since Covid Omincron became a thing the commercial orders dried up when they should be peaking with the Christmas rush - normally this week would see big orders placed to stock up between Christmas and New Year for the sales - and there were none - because confidence is so low and nobody wants to buy in stock they might not sell for months the way Covid is going.

So it's been a quick drop in trade this week as everyone battens down the hatches to wait for the Covid wave to pass, quite fortunate really because Covid put one of my staff into isolation after close family got Covid.

With Covid and the slow down I had already planned to take Wednesday off to see the few family I have left expecting more restrictions post Christmas - with staff off it was a bit awkward but in the end the massive shutdown Covid is causing meant having nobody in the office missed three phone calls - and none were orders.

So we had our day out, but like the weather it was grey - for me at least, work is taking it's toll. They say that you carry your demons with you, I've got the entire Satanic army on my back and they won't be happy until they drag me right into the depths of hell.

So this is it, Merry Christmas 2021 style, where Christmas is a celebration that you managed to survive the last twelve months without being done over by a tiny virus.

We had a few pre-Christmas fireworks to end the day which was fun, now I have a little down time until January maybe my funky mood will change - but in reality I have a ton of work to do while we are closed - so probably not.
