Sublime Sunday - late August in Blackpool
I know it's been forever since I did a #sublimesunday post, pretty shoddy since I started the tag off in the first place - but 2022 has for the most part been an Annus horribilis for me, and in fact for Queen Elizabeth II as she sadly passed away.

But nobody wants to read my moaning, I do enough of that in my vlogs - let's enjoy some of the pictures I managed to grab while spending a few days away late August in Blackpool on the West Coast of the UK - the family spent longer there then I did because I did not have the staff available to give me time off (illness, personal problems etc have left me without a full staff compliment most of this year)

Sunset on the beach, mini me had been paddling in the waves and hunting for treasures - well a few shells at least.

For late August the days were clear skies and hot - this is the Fleetwood crabbing lake - we did not catch any crabs..

Blackpool tower never gets old, keep in mind those strange stick things they have on the front - this is a calm day with little wind.

Seagulls - they are everywhere at Blackpool - and don't walk around with your fish and chips - the Seagulls will literally swipe the chips out of your hands.

We had some very windy days, and the Seagulls seemed to love it - they went crazy for riding the wind.

The pictures do not do it justice really, but as I walked up the beach with my boy the Seagulls were just having the time of their lives - getting into the wind and just riding it like kites - it's hard to explain but it felt like they were enjoying being able to fly with no effort - once up in the breeze there was no flapping of wings - they just kept them wide and glided in the wind.

I took well over 50 pictures while we were around them, it was just so amazing - at times they would swoop within centimetres of your head - which could have seemed scary but they were obviously not attacking - just enjoying the freedom - living the wind. I have never tried to parachute - but I know people who day so the buzz is from being out of control while in control - I think the wind was the buzz for the Seagulls.

They really were loving it, and as you can see had no issues getting as close to us as they could.

Not just riding high up either, buzzing the tower like Maverick too. But like any extreme sport, a good rest is needed now and again.

These work quite well with Halloween coming up

You remember the pole thing from earlier - look at it middle left in the wind - bent over almost double. No idea why they put them up - decoration, tell you if it's it windy or not (although it's easy to tell if it's wind - if you had a hat and it's now gone - yup it's windy) or just to try and discourage the seagulls.

The wind also caused massive waves which brought onto the beach all manner of weird debris.

Including some dead fish - anyone know what this might have been when it was swimming?

And what about this - looks a little like a tiny Dolphin but I don't think Dolphins have ever been seen around the West Coast of UK which is called the Fydle in geological terms.

Blackpool can be warm in summer, but for sure on the coast it is freezing once it gets past October until late May. Thanks for calling by.
