The 74th consecutive Hive Open Mic event ran from September 5-11, 2021, with the theme: Protection. This theme was selected by Spotlight Artist: @susamusic, who is a youthful ray of sunshine, and a fantastic song carrier. It feels fitting to start the highlights with the song she shared this week.

@auelitairene gives us an original song that feels like heaven on earth. I resonate deeply with her message and melody — I sense the medicine in the music, giving us gifts of divine grace. The glimmering sun and the flowing water gives the song a striking brilliance that furthers the beauty of the music.

@lois2021 performs as a daddy-daughter duet. I feel there is good medicine in this music. I sense it in the message, the melody, and the energy these artists bring to the song - it all feels potent and powerful to me. I honor their protective efforts, sharing their musical gifts to remind us to be protectors of our planet, so all may grow and flourish.

@smarielys77 shares a song that includes both English and Spanish lyrics. I think her multi-lingual speech is a sign of high intelligence and also high respect. I appreciate the overall message in this song and the beauty I feel listening to her singing.

# <center>💫 Acknowledgements</center>

Today's weekly update showcases a small selection of songs that stand out to me personally. Numerous other songs can be celebrated, beyond this list of newcomers and gold stars. My intention is to acknowledge the excellent artistry, the supportive community involvement, and above all else: global harmony—this is what our community stands for.

Behind the scenes, Hive Open Mic moderators devote many hours each week to listening, commenting, curating, and creating for this community. The moderation task is a big undertaking, and I'm thankful to @mipiano and @jesuslnrs for their active involvement this week. Additional thanks goes to the OCD Community Incubation Program, who rewards our musicians with generous upvotes.

I am grateful to each of the Hive musicians who expressed themselves this week through the Hive Open Mic community. It is beautiful to witness the connections we create through the songs we carry and share. I believe the entire world benefits through the harmony that music gives to us.
