# <center>Hive Open Mic - Highlights</center>
#### <center>Week 11: June 21-27, 2020</center>
We're 11 weeks into the Hive Open Mic journey, with 11 songs to share. This event satisfies a certain longing for creative expression and community connection. Hive Open Mic is exactly what I asked for in life, and I'm grateful to the musicians and the music fans, making this event worthwhile week after week. I'm especially impressed by the strong Venezuelan participation, enhancing this event with songs in the Spanish language, along with solid audience encouragement.
It's a pleasure hosting a virtual stage for all the world to share. I embrace all walks of life as members of my greater family, and so naturally I am delighted by the diverse languages, eclectic styles, and various music forms we're hearing here. We have amateurs and professionals, solos and collaborations, folk songs and hip-hop flows... lots to appreciate. And I appreciate it!

*English:* This artist might be considered a poster child of Hive Open Mic. He participates nearly every week, both as a musician and a supporter of other musicians. His professional-level multi-instrumental musicianship is outstanding. And this performance is one of the standout creations in the event so far, in my opinion. Here, he builds a unique composition of many layers: trombone, vocals, drum, cuatro, and electric bass. I also admire the timeliness of this song, honoring Saint John the Baptist who is celebrated at this time of year.
*Español:* Este artista podría considerarse un póster hijo de Hive Open Mic. Participa casi todas las semanas, tanto como músico como partidario de otros músicos. Su musicalidad multi-instrumental a nivel profesional es sobresaliente. Y esta actuación es una de las creaciones destacadas en el evento hasta ahora, en mi opinión. Aquí, él construye una composición única de muchas capas: trombón, voz, batería, cuatro y bajo eléctrico. También admiro la actualidad de esta canción, en honor a San Juan Bautista, que se celebra en esta época del año.

# <center>Rewards</center>
Hive Open Mic showcases Hive's tremendously talented musicians. I honor each of these brave souls for stepping up to the virtual stage with something special to say. And their willingness to capture their performance on camera is further proof of their courage. This deserves to be applauded and rewarded.
This week each artist earned 1.16 HIVE as a bonus, through our tip jar, in addition to the upvotes they received individually. This week's tip jar is extra rewarding thanks to generous upvotes by @created, @livingfree, @pfunk, @likwid, and many others. Thank you all. While it's impossible to define the total value of the gifts given in the Hive Open Mic, we can see that the energetic exchange is significant. I'm proud of us.

# <center>Acknowledgements</center>
You might notice that I simplified the highlights in this edition, compared to previous weeks. In the past, I wrote up a note of gratitude for each participating musician, and this was an enjoyable process, although tiresome at times. In an effort to reduce the workload, I'm keeping this one brief. I trust that everyone knows how grateful I am for their participation. Just in case anyone questions my care, I have something to share.
These past few months have been expansive, as I opened myself to new possibilities, thanks in part to Hive Open Mic. While my business workload was awfully slow, and my income was nearly zero, I felt blessed with abundance. I felt connected to a community that is harmonious and hopeful, with terrific energy and vibrant life force. I felt encouraged to share intimate songs and stories, trying new techniques, growing as an artist. I dedicated time and space to self-love, and it is paying off. I sincerely hope each one of us is earning these kinds of rewards—the fruits of our labors.

# <center>Inspiration - Just for Fun!</center>

This live music scene is fun for me because I happened to be crowdsurfing! This was Woodstock '99, held in the summer after my Freshman year of college, in my party daze. In fact, my friends and I painted a hippie van and drove to New York for the festival, all the way from Wyoming. This event was portrayed by the media as being marred by violence, but for me it was a great big dance fest.
Red Hot Chili Peppers' "If You Had To Ask" is a song I barely remember, except for the bare body of the bassist. Yep, I was situated right near the stage when Flea showed up buck naked, wang dangling. I remember laughing so hard at the audacity of this. Not much else exciting say about RHCP live music, in my opinion. Elsewhere at the festival, I did enjoy James Brown's dance pants, and Jamiroquai's afternoon groove, and Fatboy Slim's late-night rave, and birthday boy George Clinton's cheshire cat smile.
