"La cima de la Vida" (Cuento) [Esp-Eng]

En tierras lejanas, un hombre de gran sabiduría quiso encontrar la respuesta a un gran dilema de la vida. Para ello, hizo un llamado a todos los habitantes cercanos, a fin de participar en una peculiar prueba. El requisito era muy sencillo, no debían tener habilidad o destreza alguna que pudiera darle ventajas sobre los demás competidores.

Muchos acudieron al lugar citado, mujeres y hombres de temple temeraria han dicho presente a la misteriosa invitación. El sonar de una trompeta anuncia la llegada de aquel hombre sabio, y con él, una enorme montaña la cual todos deben escalar, con el propósito de reclamar su premio que se encuentra justo en la cima de aquel enorme lugar.

“No hay reglas ni acertijos. La idea es llegar a como dé lugar. Solo debes respetar el rumbo que cada persona haya escogido, y cada uno debe trazar su propio sendero”. Esa fue la consigna del viento que sellaba este juramento, y con esto, el canto de un ruiseñor anunciaba la hora de empezar dicha odisea.

Y mientras el hombre sabio de un salto llegaba a la meta, el tiempo dormía debajo de un árbol azul y frondoso. No hay apuro para despertarlo, pues el ya sabe que está encargado de recibir a todos los que hayan logrado semejante proeza, la de escalar una montaña que en el día sonríe y de noche solo sabe roncar.

Hubieron épocas de lluvias y sequía en aquella montaña, temporadas de buen sol y también de amargas tormentas, pero todo era parte de aquella aventura por la que muchas personas seguían, sin desistir del ansiado premio que parecía un oasis de cristal cuando lo mirabas de lejos. El grito y la algarabía cada vez se hacía más presente entre las nubes y los arcoíris, que alentaban a todos los competidores con canciones y versos de una dulce victoria, dulce como la miel que brotaba de los ríos por los cuales tuvieron que cruzar en varios trazos del camino.

Y así como se tratara de una estrella fugaz en su blanco resplandecer, llegaron los años con la nieve que posaba en la cima de aquella montaña, y como gotas de rocío fueron llegando los que alguna vez soñaban con aquel lugar como algo distante y vacío. Atrás quedó la primavera, y el otoño entonó un vals para todos los presentes.

Muchos llegaron sonrientes. Otros lo hicieron con un pañuelo de lágrimas frustradas. Algunos cargaban el peso de sus heridas por lo fuerte que fue la subida, pero su alma seguía mostrando el rostro de ese niño que una vez fue y que jamás se olvidará. Y aquellos que iniciaron gateando y dando sus primeros pasos, hoy caminan temblorosos ante tanto aprendizaje que les ha regalado esa enorme montaña.

Tal como las hojas de un árbol que caen y luego se van, así muchos competidores perdieron el rumbo y nunca llegaron a su destino. ¿Puedes saber si su espíritu aún sigue latiendo en el corazón de aquella montaña? Solo un hombre sabio como el dueño de tan inmenso lugar, sabe perfectamente el camino y el lugar para enmarcarlos en las praderas de la felicidad.

¿Y dónde está el premio para aquellos que han llegado a la meta? Es una pregunta que con insistencia se hacen todas las gardenias. Porque el secreto de ese gran tesoro que deseas alcanzar, lo vas recogiendo en el sendero de aquella montaña con amor, sacrificio y consuelo, mirarás al cielo de tus pensamientos, y con llanto de alegría verás como las estrellas de tus recuerdos brillarán y dirán: ¡Bienvenido, mi viejo amigo! ¡Bienvenido, una vez más!

In a distant land, a man of great wisdom wanted to find the answer to a great dilemma of life. To do so, he called upon all the nearby inhabitants to participate in a peculiar test. The requirement was very simple, they had to have no skill or ability that could give them an advantage over the other competitors.

Many came to the place mentioned, women and men of reckless mettle have said present to the mysterious invitation. The sound of a trumpet announced the arrival of that wise man, and with him, a huge mountain which everyone had to climb, in order to claim their prize, which was right at the top of that enormous place.

"There are no rules or riddles. The idea is to get there no matter what. You just have to respect the course that each person has chosen, and each one must trace his own path." That was the wind that sealed this oath, and with this, the song of a nightingale announced the time to begin this odyssey.

And while the wise man leapt to the goal, time slept under a blue and leafy tree. There is no hurry to wake him up, because he already knows that he is in charge of receiving all those who have achieved such a feat, that of climbing a mountain that smiles during the day and only knows how to snore at night.

There were times of rain and drought in that mountain, seasons of good sunshine and bitter storms, but it was all part of that adventure for which many people followed, without giving up the coveted prize that looked like a crystal oasis when you looked at it from afar. The shouting and the noise became more and more present among the clouds and the rainbows, which encouraged all the competitors with songs and verses of a sweet victory, sweet as the honey that flowed from the rivers through which they had to cross in several traces of the road.

And as if it were a shooting star in its white glow, the years came with the snow that rested on the top of that mountain, and like dewdrops came those who once dreamed of that place as something distant and empty. Spring was left behind, and autumn intoned a waltz for all those present.

Many arrived smiling. Others came with a handkerchief of frustrated tears. Some carried the weight of their wounds from how hard the climb was, but their souls still showed the face of that child they once were and will never forget. And those who began crawling and taking their first steps, today walk trembling before so much learning that this huge mountain has given them.

Like the leaves of a tree that fall and then leave, so many competitors lost their way and never reached their destination. Can you know if their spirit is still beating in the heart of that mountain? Only a wise man like the owner of such an immense place, knows perfectly the way and the place to frame them in the meadows of happiness.

And where is the prize for those who have reached the goal? It is a question that all gardenias insistently ask themselves. For the secret of that great treasure you wish to reach, you are gathering on the path of that mountain with love, sacrifice and consolation, you will look up to the sky of your thoughts, and with tears of joy you will see how the stars of your memories will shine and say: Welcome, my old friend! Welcome, once again!

Muy bonita tu reflexión. Escuché muchas veces a personas ignorantes decir que no quieren llegar a la vejez, son aquellas personas que no se permiten disfrutar de la bella vista que la cima de la montaña nos ofrece.
