I've been using a pair for the past 2 years or so and I love them.  They're starting to act up a bit recently though.. now I understand why.  

Apple has a new version out so they've pushed out the annoyance update to get me to buy the new ones. haha.  You can't deny there's a conspiracy temptation there... especially since Apple has admitted to doing dodgy practices in the past :)

Haha I always think that about the phones as well.  The new airpods really aren't that different.  I will say that the bluetooth, however, works amazingly better than most bluetooth devices I'm familiar with.  The range is impressive and the reliability has been good.  As I said, I didn't have a Gen 1 version of the airpods to compare, but this version has been reliable.

Apparently it's got a new, more efficient chip in it that also saves battery life.
Dunno, if I can find someone to take these off me on eBay, maybe.. 

Gosh, I set myself a tech budget though.  It's these or the Osmo :)

I have heard about how good they are. I guess I wont believe it unless I try em on. I am really concerned about how they feel in the ear in the long term. 

Not a big fan of hard plastic ear pieces...WOULD TRY 10/10

I was actually much the same.  What surprised me is how light they are once in your ear and how they just hang there basically.  WIth no cord, the tendency (at least that I experienced with the old corded apple type) would pop out of my ears all the time.  With these..it doesn't happen at all.  Surprising to me as well.  Sound quality wise....I'm definitely not the guy to ask on that front.  I really just use them for the basics.

My fear instills from the earpods and man were they uncomfortable. 
Earbuds aren't well known for sound quality, so I wouldn't be surprised if the airpods under performed. Especially because they are wireless and super tiny.

I am an AirPod fanboy.  No shame in saying it either.   I had first generation for over a year.   I can not imagine going back to cables. 
I must save a few days of my life not having to untangle.

Yesterday Sarah put the case with 1 earbud through the wash.
I’m drying them in a warm corner and 🀞
I’ll be getting generation 2 if they don’t work.

I've got v1 and they need replacing pretty soon as the battery life is about an hour now. I've had them maybe 2 years? I did lose one - it fell out in the attic when I was feeding Ethernet cable through the exterior wall. It landed on a cobweb on top of the wall cavity. As soon as my fingers got near it, the cobweb gave way and it feel right down to the floor. So now one airpod lasts longer than the other. Β£179 for two years isn't exactly good value, but they're just so darn convenient. I have mine in most of the day for podcasts and audiobooks.

Losing them is certainly a danger.  As to android, these will work with any bluetooth phone, but obviously they are built to integrate naturally with the iPhone.  There might well be something better for Android, I'm just not sure.
