Hello dear friends of the #homesolutions community, it's been a while I shared some entries in the community and it's absolutely not my fault, it's just lack of time because of school runs. But today something struck me, I came across this [initiative](https://ecency.com/hive-108539/@home.solutions/mi-electrodomestico-estrellainiciativa-espeng) by the community and I decided to key in. I made time from nowhere because I can't afford to miss this.

As my entry to this phase of the initiative, I would be discussing about the multi-purpose or rather one of the **star appliances** we've got at home and it's the electrical extension box. I called it multi-purpose because we make use of this extension to power many appliances at home ranging from TV to the fridge, decoders and the rest. Any fault with the extension means a power down of these appliances. Unfortunately for us, the extension had an issue due to unstable current this morning. I wasn't able to fix it in the morning because I had to leave for school but I asked my parents not to call an electrician, promising them that I would fix it on arrival back from school.

On arriving from school, the TV was shut down and the fridge was almost getting heated. So I had to take immediate action to fix the faults.

So the first thing I did was to gather the needed tools. Then I screwed out the screws from their pots individually. I was careful to arrange the screws to avoid missing any.

When I finally opened up the electrical extension box, then came the major problem; identifying the fault(s). Via careful observation and conscious brainstorming, I was able to pinpoint the problem. The issue with the box was one of the wires which cut due to excessive heating and probably due to high voltage.

So I made use of my pairs of scissors to cut open the disconnected wire and wire the use of my pliers, I gently rejoined the former point of connection.

To ensure this new connection I made stays firm, I used a black insulation tape to hold it down on the box walls.

Time for closing! I gradually picked the screws individually and screwed them in again. This ensured the two major compartments of the electrical extension box were tightly fit together.

At this stage, all I had to do was to test the appliance and see if that was the only fault and if not, then extra work will be needed to have the appliance fixed up.
So I plugged in the voltage stabilizer to the wall socket before plugging in the socket to it. I waited for a few seconds for the stabilizer to respond. It took some time for the response and I almost doubted my hard work. Fortunately for me, the stabilizer supplied current to the electrical extension box and the TV and other appliances connected to it came up.
