In relation to a prior post about working for a sleep lab, i thought i would just go over some of the common disorders we see here, when running a study on a patient.

![img_0.20510728749329932.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmYxDxYg5Zke3YZKZK6bNtuFNACDUfrWHjgM8iiw1mbtjz/img_0.20510728749329932.jpg)

This pic from the book shows what a typical study would look like. Hard to see but its just many parameters. Brain waves, muscle activity, heart, oxygen, eye movement, and breathing.

Most common thing we focus on is Sleep Apnea, or OSA (obstructive sleep apnea), which is basically a disorder of breathing. No one breathes perfectly at night, but consider that some people really have a hard time breathing and wake up often.

Sleep apnea can be characterized by an obstructed airway during sleep which causes a restriction, and may cause frequent awakenings.

We use a CPAP to treat, which is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. It helps to stabilize the airway and can improve breathing, which can then decrease amount of awakenings.

We also see a lot of leg movement in some patients. PLMD, periodic limb movement disorder. Can arise from different factors.

Of course, im not a doctor. If anyone is interested in more precise info, please look into it, as i cannot offer medical advice.

Tonight, i just have 1 patient so an easy start to the night so far.

Cheers, thanks for stopping by.

That look complicated and require years of research and study to understand it completely

I was curious on how CPAP looked like, so I Googled CPAP just now. Is that thing comfortable to wear during sleep? When does CPAP is recommended for a patient?

Hm. So, if you don't snooze, you lose. If you do, it's still true... I got a friend of mine who's doing a sleep study. I wonder how much your experiences correlate. Hey- I'll take any tips you got for sleeping better. Can't stand that I'm so restless. Harder workouts, maybe?

Lol, hey man, harder workouts is good for us trying to be cut.

Id say simply, just imagine the neck situation. Buff dudes, big necks, big tonsils/anatomy, height/weight, overall structure influences the airway when asleep.

We all wake up, but some more than others. Depends how many times theres awakenings. Could be little as 3 seconds long. Ive had some people wake up 10, 20, 40, shit 100 times an hour.

Its a cool test, i stand by it. Were busy.

Keep beastin bro
