Saludos mis queridos amigos de Hive, es un placer para mi compartir esta película tan inquietante como misteriosa. Una película de pocos diálogos pero rica en imágenes, no es otra que Lamb, una joya del 2021  a cargo del islandés Valdimar Jóhannsson, con las actuaciones de Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snær Guðnason y Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. Con una fotografía excepcional nos cuenta, casi siempre con imágenes, la historia de una pareja de granjeros apartados en las hermosas y frías montañas de Islandia.

Tenía muchas ganas de ver esta película, las expectativas y los comentarios sobre ella me hicieron sentir mucha curiosidad, al punto de caer, casi, en la desesperación por verla. Es una película algo lenta, lo que la hace mas apetecible para mi, vivimos envueltos en tanto caos y convulsión que este momento de reposo es un respiro para el agitado mundo.

Otra película distribuida por el estudio  A24, ganando otro punto, al valorar esta cinta tan extraña y original como pocas. Que se apoya en la atmósfera del paisaje, una densa niebla que, por momentos, hacer brillar el blanco en nuestras pantallas, y aunque resulte paradójico, crea un ambiente de oscuridad y cierto temor.

Al comenzar a verla tenía muy pocas referencias acerca de su trama, pues siempre huyo de los spoilers y no sigo leyendo, aunque, en el grupo de cinéfilos al que estoy inscrita suelen tener respeto por sus colegas y no pecan de adelantar la trama, pues solo hacen recomendaciones y comentarios sobre el arte expresado en movimiento.

La película es callada, pues mas de la mitad del elenco son animales y éstos no hablan, pero también es producto del lugar donde está ambientada: las montañas heladas de Islandia, donde la niebla crea momentos de ligera angustia convirtiéndose en otro protagonista visual. Como los animales de esta granja, donde conviven los protagonistas es una granja de corderos, no se, aunque no se parecen en trama ni en estética, me recuerda al Silencio de los corderos, lo siento, no pude evitar el mal chiste.

Al comienzo de la película todo es confuso, no entendemos bien lo que está pasando, la historia que mantienes a los protagonistas tan apartados y lejanos entre si, la naturaleza del trabajo que realizan y el mismo entorno, los hacen parecer fríos a pesar de compartir la cama, la casa y el trabajo con los animales. 

El guion no ofreces esclarecer nada, se apoya en la visual para lograr que podamos entender que es lo que pasa y lo que ha pasado, en este paraje de ensueño clavado en este frío, a los que parece que ya están acostumbrados.

Nuestros protagonistas pasan por un duelo, pero no lo dicen, se insinúa en una escena, que una cegata como yo tuvo que ver de nuevo, para entender las razones y darle la razón a María, el personaje de Noomi Rapace, de quien pensé que la locura se había apoderado de ella y su de marido, Ingvar. Poco a poco vas entendiendo la trama y sus circunstancias. 

Tenía mucho tiempo sin ver una película que hiciera uso de símbolos tan magistralmente, así nos paseamos por la más elemental, y primera que se nos viene a la mente: la trinidad cristiana, que viene advertida en el primer poster promocional. Así como otros que intuimos, pero no puedo estar segura al desconocer la mitología nórdica y vikinga en el amplio espectro. Pero que podemos ir armando a medida que la película va alcanzando su clímax y desenlazase.

La tranquilidad que nos brinda el paisaje es otro punto a favor, así nos vamos comprometiendo en la vida de estos granjeros que viven de y para la naturaleza que los rodea, cuidando y labrando la tierra, criando y amando a sus corderos, y es que la naturaleza es el punto focal, la vida inteligente en la tierra no es exclusiva de los humanos y poco a poco vamos llegando al momento en que, como espectadores, debemos tomar partido por la vida natural, el mundo creado por los humanos o la mitología que nace del desconocimiento de las fuerza naturales.

Yo di un paso al frente y dediqué mi apoyo a María, no solo se ganó mi respeto por su increíble actuación, también entiendo y puedo sentir profundamente la tragedia que la rodea. Además que como siempre me han gustado los animales, para mi significa que tener esta granja y poder obtener de ella la maravilla ventaja de tener un hijo mítico, es un sueño hecho realidad, muy tiernas las imágenes en las que comparte con este fruto de la naturaleza mitológica.

No es de terror propiamente **Lamb**, no vamos a ver mucha sangre derramada, no hay gritos ni fantasmas espeluznantes, pero hay un monstruo aterrador, este monstruo es la revancha de la naturaleza que casi nunca toma partido por las personas, sobre todo cuando éstas violan el contrato establecido de cuidar y proteger el fruto natural sin pecar de acaparadores o abusadores del contrato natural.

Es posible que **Lamb**, no sea el estilo de películas que le gusta a la mayoría, que su ritmo lento y la casi ausencia de diálogos puedan hacerla un poco pesada, pero estoy segura que si logras empatizar con la mirada de los animales, y las decisiones de las personas, vas a disfrutarla y recomendarla también. </div>

## Lamb , a heartbeat of grief and motherhood

Greetings my dear friends of Hive, it is a pleasure for me to share this film as disturbing as mysterious. A film with little dialogue but rich in images, it is none other than Lamb, a gem from 2021 by Icelandic director Valdimar Jóhannsson, starring Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snær Guðnason and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. With exceptional cinematography it tells us, almost always with pictures, the story of a couple of remote farmers in the beautiful and cold mountains of Iceland.

I really wanted to see this film, the expectations and the comments about it made me very curious, to the point of falling, almost, in desperation to see it. It is a somewhat slow film, which makes it more appealing to me, we live in so much chaos and upheaval that this moment of rest is a respite from the hectic world.

Another film distributed by the studio A24, gaining another point, to value this film as strange and original as few. That relies on the atmosphere of the landscape, a dense fog that, at times, make the white shine on our screens, and although it is paradoxical, creates an atmosphere of darkness and some fear.

When I started watching it, I had very few references about its plot, as I always avoid spoilers and do not continue reading, although, in the group of cinephiles to which I am enrolled, they usually have respect for their colleagues and do not err in advancing the plot, as they only make recommendations and comments on the art expressed in movement.

The film is quiet, as more than half of the cast are animals and they do not speak, but it is also a product of the place where it is set: the icy mountains of Iceland, where the fog creates moments of slight anguish becoming another visual protagonist. As the animals of this farm, where the protagonists live together is a lamb farm, I don't know, although they are not similar in plot or aesthetics, it reminds me of Silence of the Lambs, sorry, I couldn't avoid the bad joke.

At the beginning of the film everything is confusing, we do not understand well what is happening, the story that keeps the protagonists so far apart and distant from each other, the nature of the work they do and the same environment, make them seem cold despite sharing the bed, the house and work with animals.

The script does not offer to clarify anything, it relies on the visual to make us understand what is happening and what has happened in this dreamy place stuck in this cold, to which it seems that they are already accustomed.

Our protagonists go through a duel, but they do not say it, it is insinuated in a scene, that a blind like me had to see again, to understand the reasons and give the reason to Maria, the character of Noomi Rapace, who I thought that madness had taken over her and her husband, Ingvar. Little by little you understand the plot and its circumstances.

I had long time without seeing a film that made use of symbols so masterfully, so we walk through the most elementary, and first that comes to mind: the Christian trinity, which is warned in the first promotional poster. As well as others that we intuit, but I can not be sure not knowing the Nordic and Viking mythology in the broad spectrum. But that we can go putting together as the film reaches its climax and unravels.

The tranquility that the landscape offers us is another point in our favor, this way we become involved in the lives of these farmers who live from and for the nature that surrounds them, caring for and tilling the land, raising and loving their lambs, and nature is the focal point, intelligent life on earth is not exclusive to humans and little by little we are reaching the moment when, as spectators, we must take sides for natural life, the world created by humans or the mythology that is born from ignorance of the natural forces.

I stepped forward and dedicated my support to Maria, not only did she earn my respect for her incredible performance, I also understand and can deeply feel the tragedy that surrounds her. Besides that as I have always loved animals, for me it means that having this farm and being able to get from it the wonderful advantage of having a mythical son, is a dream come true, very tender the images in which she shares with this fruit of mythological nature.

It is not properly horror Lamb, we are not going to see much blood spilled, there are no screams or creepy ghosts, but there is a terrifying monster, this monster is the revenge of nature that almost never takes sides with people, especially when they violate the established contract of caring for and protecting the natural fruit without sinning hoarders or abusers of the natural contract.

It is possible that Lamb is not the style of film that most people like, that its slow pace and the almost absence of dialogue can make it a little heavy, but I am sure that if you can empathize with the look of the animals, and the decisions of people, you will enjoy it and recommend it as well.
