Recently I found the cover of a DVD with the first movie of the Twilight saga, when I opened it I found it was empty, what a moment of disappointment I had! When I discovered that it was indeed on Netflix I didn't hesitate for a moment to watch the complete saga again.
When Stephenie Meyer's books came out I read them avidly, a sort of guilty pleasure that I kept secret, to this day, because in my circle it was frowned upon to read these books that, according to my circle of friends were not considered literature, let alone worth reading, but I was already caught up in the story. Certainly they are books for teenagers, and I was not, but this fiction made me feel moments of real tenderness and romance.
So when the movies came out I watched them one by one and to this day I consider myself a fan of them, not only did they manage to capture all that romantic atmosphere of the books, but they also gave shape and voice to the landscape and the heroes of the saga.
In addition to seeing how they gave reins and light to the voids, those excerpts from the book that were difficult to capture in moving images. So today I bring you my impressions of Twilight as seen more than a decade after its theatrical release.

#### Twilight:
- I don't know if it is because I lived a similar situation in my adolescence when I went to live with my dad in another state (Bolivar) much warmer than the city where I lived (Caracas) that I feel, even now, identified with Bella, and that discomfort of living with an absent father with whom we have to learn to live in coexistence with someone who helped bring you to life, but with whom you do not have much contact and you must learn to rebuild those lost ties, I also arrived at a new school, where you do not know anyone and also have another way of seeing things. I was also the new toy, for the simple fact of being from Caracas. Too many inconveniences together.
- One or two months ago I found out through a youtube video, that the writer had, at last, published the first book but from Edward Cullen's point of view, so we could relive the story from his point of view, which added a second light to what we already knew.
- Everyone opted for the sexuality (or sensuality) of the male protagonists Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, but no one noticed before how beautiful Charlie Swan (Billy Burke) is, we were already very young. When I saw Twilight, for the first time, the girls' laughter made the room rumble every time Jacob Black appeared, I didn't understand the fuss because I didn't find him handsome, much less now. Edward Cullen on the other hand I always found beautiful, and more so now, after seeing him in other powerful performances: Tenet, Batman, Vanity Fair and The Lighthouse.
- So appealing is the role of Edward Cullen's good villain that he reminds me of Terrence Grandchester, my first great love from the anime series Candy Candy, which I watched in my childhood.
- All the vampires are really beautiful. Capturing the essence of the premise of the books, they are predatory and designed to attract.
- When Bella goes to the bookstore and buys that impastoed book, it disappears during all the subsequent scenes, you would think she carries it in her purse, but when she gets out of Edward's car she doesn't carry the purse, but when she gets home she checks it to see what species Edward belongs to.
- The film tries to establish the real existence of vampires, with the google search that Bella does, going through references from different cultures.

- Among the films detractors there are those who criticize Kristen Stewart's performance, saying that she only had one facial expression during the whole movie, I am not her fan but I dare to defend her saying that this character represents a girl who still does not know all her feelings, besides, her character, does not have many possibilities to express a chorus of feelings to express. She is so naive that she falls in love with her potential predator.
- Alice ( Ashley Greene) is so cute and so full of style, the actress who plays her has so much charisma that it is very hard to see her as a blood sucking monster. Her body language is light and subtle and relaxed, which caught mine and my daughter's imagination.
- We always talk about advertising in movies and I found a fascinating example of how beer is promoted in a teen movie, so I captured a sequence where the two actors in the action work together to expose Bella's dad Charlie's favorite brand of beer, when between the two of them they seem to place the cans in such a way that the logo is exposed in a veiled way.

- Twilight vampires have heightened senses, so I find it a bit absurd that Edward tells Bella to let her hair down when the trio of evil vampires arrives, so they can perceive Bella's scent, and she, being so smart, doesn't contradict him. I also find it ugly that Edward leaves her alone, instead of protecting her, he leaves the protagonist alone with two of his brothers, so they have plotted a strategy thinking they are going to follow the vampire boyfriend. Not to be ungrateful, but those who accompanied Bella are the two weakest of the pack.
- If Bella has some sort of protective shield, how is it possible that Alice can see her future in her visions?

Recientemente encontré la carátula de un DVD con la primera película de la saga *Crepúsculo*, al abrirla me encontré que estaba vacía, ¡que momento de desilusión pasé!. Cuando descubrí que efectivamente estaba en Netflix no dudé ni un momento en ver de nuevo la saga completa.
Cuando salieron los libros de Stephenie Meyer los leí ávidamente, una especie de placer culposo que mantuve en secreto, hasta el día de hoy, pues en mi círculo no estaba bien visto que se leyeran estos libros que, según mi círculo de amigos no eran considerados literatura y mucho menos dignos de leer, pero ya me había atrapado la historia. Ciertamente son libros para adolescentes, y yo no lo era, pero esta ficción me hizo sentir momentos de verdadera ternura y romanticismo.
Así que cuando salieron las películas las miré una a una y hasta el día de hoy me considero fan de ellas, no solo lograron captar todo esa atmósfera romántica de los libros, sino que también le dieron forma y voz al paisaje y a los héroes de la saga.
Además de ver como le daban riendas y luz a los vacíos, esos extractos del libro que eran difíciles de plasmar en las imágenes en movimiento. Así que hoy traigo las impresiones que me dejó *Crepúsculo* vista con más de una década de su estreno en cines.

### Crepúsculo:
- No se si es porque viví una situación similar en mi adolescencia cuando me fui a vivir con mi papá a otro estado (Bolívar) mucho más caluroso que la ciudad donde vivía (Caracas) que me siento, incluso ahora, identificada con Bella, y esa incomodidad de vivir con un padre ausente con el que tenemos que aprender a vivir en convivencia con alguien que ayudó a traerte a la vida, pero con quien no tienes mucho roce y que debes aprender a rehacer esos lazos perdidos, también llegué a un nuevo colegio, donde no conoces a nadie y que, además, tienen otra manera de ver las cosas. También fui el juguete nuevo, por el simple hecho de ser de Caracas. Demasiadas incomodidades juntas.
- Hace uno o dos meses me enteré por un video de [youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI_zW9GxIU8), que la escritora había, por fin, publicado el primer libro pero desde el punto de vista de Edward Cullen, así pudimos revivir la historia desde su mirada, lo que le añadió una segunda luz a lo que ya sabíamos.
- Todos se decantaron por la sexualidad (o sensualidad) de los protagonistas masculinos Robert Pattinson y Taylor Lautner, pero nadie notó antes los bello que es Charlie Swan (Billy Burke), ya se éramos muy jóvenes. Cuando vi Crepúsculo, por primera vez, las risas de las niñas hacían retumbar la sala cada vez que aparecía Jacob Black, no entendía el alboroto pues no lo encontré guapo, mucho menos ahora. Edward Cullen en cambio siempre me pareció hermoso, y más ahora, después de verlo en otras potentes actuaciones: Tenet, Batman, Vanity Fair y El Faro.
- Es tan atrayente el rol del buen villano de Edward Cullen que me recuerda a *Terrence Grandchester*, mi primer gran amor de la serie de *anime* Candy Candy, que vi en mi niñez.
- Todos los vampiros son realmente hermosos. Captando la esencia de la premisa de los libros, son depredadores y están diseñados para atraer
- Cuando *Bella* va a la librería y compra ese libro empastado, desaparece durante todas las escenas posteriores, se puede pensar que lo lleva en su bolso, pero al bajar del automóvil de Edward no lleva el bolso, pero al llegar a casa lo revisa para comprobar la especie a la que pertenece Edward.
- La película trata de establecer la existencia real de los vampiros, con la búsqueda en google que hace Bella, dando un repaso por referencias de diferentes culturas.

- Entre los detractores de las películas hay quienes critican la actuación de Kristen Stewart, diciendo que solo tuvo una expresión facial durante toda la película, no soy su admiradora pero me atrevo a defenderla diciendo que ese personaje representa a una niña que aún no conoce todos sus sentimientos, además, su personaje, no cuenta con muchas posibilidades para expresar un coro de sentimientos para expresar. Es tan ingenua que se enamora de su potencial depredador.
- *Alice* ( Ashley Greene) es tan linda y tan llena de estilo, la actriz que la interpreta tiene tanta carisma que es muy difícil verla como un monstruo chupa sangre. Su expresión corporal es ligera y sutil y relajada, que atrapó el imaginario mío y de mi hija.
- Siempre se habla de la publicidad presente en las películas y encontré un ejemplo fascinante, de como se promueve la cerveza en una película para adolescentes. así que le hice captura a una secuencia donde los dos actores que realizan la acción trabajan juntos para dejar a la vista la marca de cerveza preferida de *Charlie*, el papá de *Bella*, cuando entre los dos parecen ubicar las latas de manera que quede expuesta el logo de manera velada.

- Los vampiros de *Crepúsculo* tienen los sentidos aumentados, por eso me parece un poco absurdo que *Edward* le diga a *Bella* que se suelte el cabello cuando llega el trío de vampiros malvados, pues así pueden estos percibir el olor de *Bella*, y ella, siendo tan inteligente no le lleve la contraria. También me parece feo que Edward la deje sola, en lugar de protegerla la deje ir sola a la protagonista con dos de sus hermanos, así hayan tramado una estrategia pensando que van a seguir al novio vampiro. No es por ingratitud, pero los que acompañaron a Bella son los dos más débiles de la manada.
- ¿Si *Bella* tiene una especie de escudo protector, cómo es posible que *Alice* pueda ver su futuro en sus visiones?
