Lessons learned when starting to use Steemit

I'm considering composing text in another editor first, especially as there is not presently a "save as draft" feature. Further, a check of how the story turns out immediately after posting may be useful to spot any incorrect markdown or HTML.<br>

Image files are not directly uploaded to steemit as they are in other social media platforms. Instead, you can upload to an image/file hosting service and add a link to the image on that hosting from your story. In markdown mode an image is inserted using &nbsp;! [ ] (url-to-image-on-web)<br>

  <li><strong>Tags<br>
</strong>Each story may have a space delimited list of tags. Use the steemit search function to find stories that would be in a similar category as yours and find what tags they use with their post. The tags help your audience find relevant posts.<br>

  <li>Start <strong>exploring the steemit community</strong> and remember to <strong>upvote</strong> any posts and stories you come across that you appreciate.<br>
