<P><div class="text-justify">Hello to everyone in the Hive Pets community! Today I bring here a new personal story, which to be fair, I think is one of the biggest fears that we as pet owners have and that is to have neighbors who hate animals. So, I come here not only to tell my experience, but also to evidence and make visible the capacity of some human beings to do evil without looking at whom. Especially to beings as noble and defenseless as dogs and cats. Come with me.</div></P> 

<P><div class="text-justify">A few days ago I moved to a residential apartment complex where we used to live. Here at home we always had eight neighbors per floor and in my wing (where my property is) I have only four. One of them moved out and two stayed. So there are only three of us now. We have only had fleeting contact with one of the neighbors and the other one, if there was a little more talk. And it is the latter who is the author of the whole case. The relationship was always pleasant, she is an older lady but with some mental problems as she lives alone and has constantly needed help and has done things that denote that she is not well: invasion of chiripas, accumulation of objects, neglected animals, insinuations to my husband, etc...</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Hive Pets! El día de hoy traigo por acá una nueva historia personal, que para ser justos, creo que es uno de los temores más grandes que nosotros como dueños de mascotas tenemos y es tener vecinos que odien a los animales. Así que, paso por aquí para no solamente contar mi experiencia, sino también para evidenciar y visibilizar la capacidad de algunos seres humanos de hacer el mal sin mirar a quién. Sobre todo a seres tan nobles e indefensos cómo los perros y los gatos. Acompáñame.</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">Hace algunos días me mudé de ciudad a un conjunto residencial de apartamentos dónde antes solíamos vivir. Aquí en casa siempre tuvimos por piso, ocho vecinos y de mi ala (dónde está mi propiedad) tengo sólo a cuatro. Una de ellas se mudó y dos se quedaron. Por lo tanto solo somos tres ahora. Solo hemos tenido un contacto fugaz con una de las vecinas y la otra, si que había un poco más de charla. Y es esta última la autora de todo el caso. La relación siempre fue amena, es una señora mayor pero con algunos problemas mentales pues vive sola y constantemente a necesitado ayuda y ha hecho cosas que denotan que no está bien: invasión de chiripas, acumulación de objetos, animales descuidados, insinuaciones a mi esposo, etc.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">However my partner and I always tried to help her with many of the things she asked for. All until from our arrival she started to look hostile. The first thing was that we asked her for water so we could clean our house as they had not yet restored the water system. She did not seem very happy about it and even less so when she demanded that a pipe in her home be repaired attributing that we had damaged it and we only fixed it, but did not pay for its replacement.  We knew that her plumbing problem had been there for quite some time.</div></P> 

<P><div class="text-justify">The thing was, one day we decided to go out and left the dogs at home. We have a problem with the front door and it is that it opens with difficulty from the inside but from the outside, it is easy for anyone to open it. The only protection was a fence. Therefore, we did not feel any danger in leaving them in the living room. As time went by, while we were returning home through the garden of the residences, we noticed that there were two little dogs just like ours. At first we laughed at the similarity but then we realized that it was them. I called one of them and she came running to me. We immediately grabbed them and ran home because we have two other cats and we were afraid that they had also escaped.</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">Sin embargo mi pareja y yo siempre tratamos de ayudarla en varias de las cosas que pedía. Todo hasta que desde nuestra llegada empezó a verse hostil. Lo primero fue que le pedimos agua para poder limpiar nuestra casa pues aún no habían restablecido el sistema de agua. No parecía muy contenta con ello y menos cuando exigió que se le reparara una tubería de su hogar atribuyendo que nosotros la habíamos dañado y nosotros solo la arreglamos, más no costeamos su reemplazo.  Sabíamos que ese problema de su tubería tenia ya bastante tiempo.</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">La cuestión fue qué, un día decidimos salir y dejamos a las perritas en casa. Tenemos un detalle con la puerta principal y es que abre con dificultad por dentro pero por fuera, es fácil que cualquiera la abra. La única protección era una reja. Por lo cual, no sentíamos peligro alguno en dejarlas en la sala. Al pasar el tiempo, mientras volvíamos a casa por el jardín de las residencias, notamos que habían dos perritas iguales a las nuestras. Al principio nos dió risa la similitud pero luego notamos que sí eran ellas. Llamé a una de ellas y vino corriendo hacia mí. Inmediatamente las tomamos y salimos corriendo a casa pues tenemos dos gatos más y temíamos que también se fueron escapado.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">We arrived at the building and went floor by floor looking for the cats. There are eleven floors and we couldn't find them. We arrived at the apartment and the door was open. Fortunately my cats had not left and were hiding in the kitchen. In the heat of the moment, the neighbor I spoke of above peeked in and started asking what had happened. And there she told my partner that she had noticed that the door was open. Already there we found that answer suspicious because she never leaves her house and coincidentally had gone out twice to see about the dogs.</div></P> 

<P><div class="text-justify">No doubt about it, it had to be her because there is no way the dogs could have opened the door. They needed someone to open it for them from the outside and the only one in the apartment was her. Also, it's not the first time she did some strange thing but I never imagined she would mess with my pets.  She knows how much we love our pets and knew how much it would hurt to lose them. Fortunately, she didn't count on the fact that my dog Brandy is very smart and stayed at the front of the building, watching over and guiding my dog Mia who is more of a puppy as well. That doesn't mean they were out of danger either. So we changed the lock and plan to put up a new fence, so that such an event will never happen again.</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">Llegamos al edificio y fuimos piso por piso buscando a los gatos. Son once pisos y no los encontrábamos. Llegamos al apartamento y la puerta estaba abierta. Afortunadamente mis gatos no se habían ido y estaban escondidos en la cocina. En el calor del momento, la vecina de la cual hablé arriba se asomó y comenzó a preguntar que había pasado. Y allí le dijo a mi pareja que había notado que la puerta estaba abierta. Ya allí encontramos sospechosa esa respuesta porque ella nunca sale  de su casa y casualmente había salido dos veces para ver lo de los perros.</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">No hay duda, tenía que ser ella pues no hay manera de que las perras fuesen abierto la puerta. Necesitaban a alguien para que les abriera por fuera y la única que estaba en el piso, era ella. Además, no es la primera vez que hacía alguna cuestión extraña pero jamás imaginé que se iba a meter con mis mascotas.  Ella sabe cuánto amamos nuestras mascotas y sabía cuánto nos dolería perderlas. Afortunadamente, ella no contaba con que mi perra Brandy es muy inteligente y se mantuvo en la entrada del edificio, cuidando y guiando también a mi perra Mía que es más cachorra. Eso no quiere decir tampoco que estuvieran fuera de peligro. Por lo cual, cambiamos la cerradura y planeamos colocar una nueva reja, de manera que más nunca ocurra un hecho como ese.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">The scare is over but now I am a little scared knowing that I live close to someone who is capable of doing anything. If he did that, he can do much more. Don't get me wrong, I know she is sick but I can't justify such a vile act and still give her my love. You have to be careful folks, not all people have good intentions just because they are older or have pets, issues what one might think are somewhat harmless or give a vote of confidence. Next time she could very well poison the dogs or ourselves (she liked to give us some treats but my husband would never eat them, he didn't have a good feeling about it). So, to keep your distance and set the record straight. Be very careful with people around your homes, secure your home; put up screens for doors and gates, secure locks, don't accept food, etc. Many do not tremble to do harm. I send you a big hug and thank you very much.</div></P>

><P><div class="text-justify">El susto pasó pero ahora tengo algo de miedo al saber que vivo cerca de alguien qué es capaz de hacer cualquier cosa. Sí hizo eso, mucho más puede hacer. No me malinterpreten, sé que está enferma pero no puedo justificar un acto tan vil y seguir brindando mi cariño. Hay que tener cuidado amigos, no todas las personas tienen buenas intenciones sólo por ser mayores o tener mascotas, cuestiones qué uno podría pensar que son algo inofensivas o dar un voto de confianza. La próxima vez podría muy bien envenenar a las perras o a nosotros mismos (ella gustaba de darnos algunos platillos pero mi esposo nunca los comía, no le daba buena espina). Así que, a mantener distancia y dejar los asuntos claros. Tenga mucho cuidado con las personas alrededor de sus hogares, aseguren su hogar; colocar mallas para las puertas y portones, asegurar las cerraduras, no aceptar comidas, etc. A muchos no les tiembla la mano para hacer daño.
