Although since I was a child I was very quiet, and a little bit withdrawn, I did not notice much the things that happened around me because I was only aware of myself and everything that afflicted me or that I wanted, without noticing everything that surrounded me, and that kept me in a very closed circle.
I lived like that for a long time until one day I remember that I was starting the school year and I noticed that a classmate did not want to take out her notebook that she brought with her in her backpack, even though the teacher asked her to copy the homework and not fall behind, but seeing that her eyes were filled with tears with her face looking at the floor she decided to take it out, to my surprise and that of everyone, including the teacher, they were the same notebooks of the previous year, a little battered and almost without leaves, to see the whole new school year.
That set off an alarm inside me, it made me start to see beyond everything that surrounded me. That was a resounding STOP to continue living my self-absorbed life, and I began to understand so much lack that surrounds us, and so much need around us and I decided to make the most significant change in my life.

A pesar que desde pequeña era muy callada, y un poco digamos retraída no notaba mucho las cosas que sucedían a mi alrededor por solo estar pendiente de mí y de todo aquello que me aquejaba o que quería, sin notar todo aquello que me rodeaba, y eso me mantenía en un círculo muy cerrado.
Así viví por mucho tiempo hasta que un día recuerdo yo que estaba comenzando el año escolar y note que una compañerita no quería sacar su cuaderno que traía consigo en su mochila, por más que la maestra se lo pedía para que copiara la tarea y no se quedara atrás, pero al ver que sus ojos se llenaron de lágrimas con su cara mirando hacia el piso decidió sacarlo, para mi sorpresa y la de todos, incluyendo a la maestra, eran los mismos cuadernos del curso anterior, un poco maltratados y ya casi sin hojas , para ver todo el nuevo año escolar.
Eso prendió una alarma dentro de mí, me hizo empezar a ver mucho más allá de todo aquello que me rodeaba. Eso fue un ALTO rotundo a seguir viviendo mi vida ensimismada, y empecé a comprender tanta carencia que nos rodea, y tanta necesidad a nuestro alrededor y decidí hacer el cambio más significativo de mi vida.

That day I arrived home with that image of my classmate so sad, I felt her pain and sorrow so mine, I did not know how to explain to my parents what I was feeling and why, and what I did was to break into tears, when I managed to calm down I told them what happened in the classroom and I told them that if I could give her half of my school supplies so she could also have the same opportunities as everyone in the classroom, my parents helped me to give her all her new school list the next day. The glow of happiness I saw that day in the eyes of my classmate marked my heart forever, her name I will never forget, her name was Mayerlin Betancourt, that girl gave me the best life lesson I will never forget, she awakened in me that which many of us carry sleeping inside, from that day I began to practice gratitude daily.

Ese día llegue a mi casa con esa imagen de mi compañera tanta triste, sentí su dolor y su pena tan mío, que no sabía cómo explicarle a mis padres lo que yo estaba sintiendo y el por qué, y lo que hice fue romper en llanto, cuando logre calmarme les conté lo sucedido en el salón de clases y les dije que si le podía dar la mitad de mis útiles escolares para que ella pudiera tener también las mismas oportunidades que todos en el salón, mi padres me ayudaron a darle toda su lista escolar nueva al día siguiente. El brillo de felicidad que vi ese día en los ojos de mi compañera marcaron mi corazón para siempre, su nombre nunca lo olvidare, se llamaba Mayerlin Betancourt, esa niña me dio la mejor lección de vida que jamás olvidare, ella despertó en mi eso que muchos llevamos dormido adentro, desde ese día empecé a practicar a diario la gratitud.

Focusing on the positive helps me to cultivate a more optimistic perspective.
I understood that we must express our feelings much more often, that we cannot forget that every day we open our eyes is a day full of opportunities, but not all of us are fortunate enough to have those same opportunities and that we must keep our eyes open to help everyone we see in need, not only does it help improve the lives of others, but you also foster positive feelings in yourself.
Although it may seem difficult, I try to look for the positive even in challenging situations. I ask myself, what can I learn from that experience and how can it contribute to my personal growth? Mindfulness helps you to be present in the moment and appreciate the little things in life, whether it's during a leisurely walk, while enjoying a meal, at any moment of your day.

Centrarme en lo positivo me ayuda a cultivar una perspectiva más optimista.
Entendí que debemos expresar nuestros sentimientos mucho más seguidos, que no se nos puede olvidar que cada día que abrimos los ojos es un día lleno de oportunidades, pero no todos tenemos la fortuna de esas mismas oportunidades y que debemos tener bien abiertos los ojos para ayudar a todo aquel que veamos con necesidades, no solo ayuda a mejorar la vida de los demás, sino que también fomentas sentimientos positivos en ti misma.
Aunque pueda parecer difícil, trato de buscar todo lo positivo incluso en las situaciones desafiantes. Me hago la Pregunta ¿qué puedo aprender de esa experiencia? y ¿cómo puede contribuir a mi crecimiento personal? La atención plena te ayuda a estar presente en el momento y a apreciar las cosas pequeñas de la vida, ya sea durante una caminata tranquila, mientras disfrutas de una comida, en el cualquier momento de tu día.

By doing this action consistently, it has helped me cultivate a positive mindset and focuses me on the Blessings of life, rather than focusing on the difficulties. This helps me face challenges with a more positive attitude, find more joy in the simple things and live a fuller, more satisfying life.
To achieve this, I just needed to be more aware of all the problems that afflict our environment, no matter how small or big the situation is, we can always, always, make a small difference with a small change we make about it, it is time to leave indifference and start making a difference.
