After having participated in some of the last editions of the Qurators Photo Quest I have decided to participate again in this week`s challenge which is about photographing coffee beans.

A first idea I had for the participation was to get the closest macro photo that my Sony Alpha 6000L camera would allow me to take. However, I discarded this idea because I didn't see anything special in getting that photo.

Later, after a walk on a beach where I wrote the word HIVE in the sand for one of my next posts, I decided to take a macro photo with the word HIVE on a piece of kitchen paper and illuminating the area to be photographed with the torch of my mobile phone. The main challenge in taking this photograph was to place the coffee beans close enough together to get a macro shot and to ensure that the beans did not move in relation to each other.

Once I got the best photo of my several attempts, the next step was to use the PhotoPad photo editor to perform the following tasks.

1) Crop the original photo to get the photo centred.

2) To soften some of the relief of the kitchen paper, I edited the photo from the menu, lighting and editing the exposure. My goal was only to soften the relief and not to remove it completely.

3) I erased with the tool erase two small coffee sands that were outside the letters of the word HIVE and with this I have the photo that I present to the contest.
