@acidyo recently [posted](https://steempeak.com/csgo/@acidyo/cs-go-iem-katowice-major-ence-vs-astralis-final) about a major CS:GO tournament with a Finnish team, ENCE, in the finals. I checked the live stream, but I gotta admit I couldn't really follow the game in a way that it would've been sensible for me. Though I'm more into games with stories that have an emotional impact, so my eye might be just untrained for the action, therefore not finding it appealing. Talking about a good story though, I found this short documentary about ENCE that I found compelling. It has English subtitles so non-Finns can understand it too. https://youtu.be/tb5nwDkSKmQ That documentary was produced by YLE which is kept up with tax money – pretty cool they are not afraid to jump into the world of esports. I think they have actually broadcasted esports straight from the TV. > I sort of feel a connection to gamers because I’m sure they face quite a lot of misconseptions too and quite frankly, have to deal with jealousy and hate from people who don’t understand how and why anyone can make a living playing. > – @eveuncovered I remember a long time ago when I read a short news article considering one Finnish who lived off by streaming Hearthstone, and it was received with dozens of hateful, bitter comments: "man should get a real job". It wasn't an unexpected reaction though, because it's one of our biases to think that pulling others down would elevate us up. In reality though, you just lose respect, mine at least. But what such people might've missed, is the fact that some people already get paid millions of dollars by running on a green field and kicking a ball. Those who do it for their profession though, are just really good at it. And getting paid for mental games is not a new thing either (chess, for example). Perhaps what rubs people so much with living off of gaming, might be the fact that it sounds so easy. "Playing video games – anyone can do that." Except that to reach a top level, you need to put in the hours, and that is no exception for games either; the team ENCE practiced for hours daily. And even if you live by livestreaming, you still have to offer something that makes people think it's worthwhile to watch you, and building that audience takes time, like building a Youtube channel would take – or a Steem account. Some people just can't digest the changes in this world, that you could play games, make videos or blog for a living. But are they even that different from an archer (eye-hand coordination), movie maker or an author – all areas that one can already have a chance of making a living in. Similarly to @eveuncovered, I also can emphasize with the gaming crowd, especially when in the documentary I got a vibe where the young 16-year-old Jere's dad might've wanted if he went to highschool, but it seems like when the kid was earning more than his mom, they didn't bother much (funny how money changes perceptions, right?). I have a bit of similar situation, because Steem. Though the difference is that my success is (partially) wrapped in uncertainty of the cryptoworld which makes it hard to articulate why I'm doing what I'm doing, especially to those who have no idea about crypto whatsoever. _"If things work out..."_ Most people consider entrepreneurship an honorable thing though, and how different is it really compared to being a Steemian? They both have uncertainty in their lives as to how they are going to get by. The difference is, that when someone claims to be an _entrepreneur_, people understand it. When, on the other hand, claiming to be a _cryptoblogger_, you are likely to meet a few raising eyebrows. <img src="https://steemitimages.com/p/HNWT6DgoBc15VtwBcpcNRduYYp5vfHxZnGaBMuEFRUGXECvTXGCTBUxjGmAuhr6nRoUUREtCGY61Ygx2RHNEhWHUts6ZJMvYNPVkZAhYc8ubW1dW92QuuMCi5hp?format=match&mode=fit">

Damn this was a great post, gotta admit other than allu I hadn't heard of any of the other gamers and didn't find out more about them, will watch the video when I got sound a bit later. I remember seeing that one video some time ago where they started mentioning esports in the news and some anchor goes all like "is that even a sport? huehuehueh" "they don't do anything, eheheheh". People are so weird to new things it's cringe.

Thank you, Acid! >I remember seeing that one video some time ago where they started mentioning esports in the news and some anchor goes all like "is that even a sport? huehuehueh" "they don't do anything, eheheheh". People are so weird to new things it's cringe. It's ironic how anchors can be some of the most ignorant people about _new_ things. Posted using [Partiko Android](https://steemit.com/@partiko-android)
