<div class="text-justify">Qué tal gente de Hive, hoy @mavis16 me ha invitado a una iniciativa muy interesante creada por @mariblue que trata de hablar de nuestras carreras universitarias, una de las etapas que está llena de altos, bajos, risas y algunas frustraciones. Yo estudie la carrera de LICENCIATURA EN QUÍMICA, una carrera a la cual la mayoría huye, pero existen algunos locos que nos gusta esta carrera y pues hoy les hablaré un poco de cómo fue.</div></div>

I studied CHEMISTRY, a career that most people shy away from, but there are some crazy people who like this career and today I will tell you a little bit about how it was.</div>

**¿En qué consiste la carrera? | What does the race consist of?**

<div class="text-justify"><div class="pull-left">La Licenciatura en Química, consiste en conocer todo lo referente a los cambios de estructura, fases, formas, dimensiones, de los elementos por distintos factores naturales o controlados. En química, se estudian el comportamiento molecular de los elementos y sus distintas formas, dependiendo las condiciones en que se encuentren, de acá se dividen: la química orgánica, la química inorgánica, Química organometálica, la física química de los elementos, química de coordinación, química cuántica, entre otras. En mi caso, estudie esta carrera y me incliné por la química organometálica y de coordinación, de la cual estaba realizando un posgrado y por la situación del país, debí abandonarlo (destruyeron por completo la universidad). Realmente fue y es algo fascinante estudiar mi carrera en química y que aún me mantengo en ello ya que por la pandemia aun estoy en espera de culminación de posgrado en el IVIC (instituto venezolano de investigaciones científicas) que apenas estaba comenzando y pues por causas del Covid-19 debí colocar en espera, por diversas razones. Actualmente también poseo dos publicaciones científicas, cosa que son muy valiosas como currículo para futuras opciones como profesor e investigador.</div></div>
<div class="text-justify">The Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, consists of knowing everything related to the changes in structure, phases, forms, dimensions, of the elements by different natural or controlled factors. In chemistry, we study the molecular behavior of the elements and their different forms, depending on the conditions in which they are found, from here they are divided into: organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, chemical physics of the elements, coordination chemistry, quantum chemistry, among others. In my case, I studied this career and I was inclined to organometallic and coordination chemistry, of which I was doing a postgraduate course and due to the situation of the country, I had to abandon it (the university was completely destroyed). It really was and is something fascinating to study my career in chemistry and that I still keep at it since because of the pandemic I am still waiting to finish my postgraduate degree at IVIC (Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research) which was just beginning and because of the Covid-19 I had to put on hold, for various reasons. Currently I also have two scientific publications, which are very valuable as a resume for future options as a teacher and researcher.</div>

**¿Siempre llamó tu atención? | Has it always caught your attention?**

<div class="text-justify">Creo que tuve la suerte de pocos, que es, estar seguro de lo que quería estudiar desde mucho antes de entrar en la universidad. Me gradué en el año 2013, debió ser en 2012, pero motivado a varias suspensiones por causas ajenas a mi voluntad, se perdieron dos semestres. Química es una carrera que siempre quise estudiar, desde mucho antes de iniciar el bachillerato, saber de cómo funcionaban las cosas era una de mis más grandes curiosidades, de por qué y cómo se dan los cambios de fase, por qué a veces los electrones se comportan como ondas y otras como partículas, que tienen que ver las vibraciones moleculares con el color, ¿por qué tiene pelo la rana? Y un sin fin de cómos y porqués que envolvían mi cabeza, asi como esa curiosidad del comportamiento de los elementos debido a la presión y el tamaño, como pasa con los planetas. Muchas de esas curiosidades me llevaron a estudiar esta carrera.</div>
> <div class="text-justify">I think I had the luck of few, which is, to be sure of what I wanted to study long before entering the university. I graduated in 2013, it should have been in 2012, but due to several suspensions for reasons beyond my control, two semesters were lost. Chemistry is a career that I always wanted to study, long before starting high school, knowing how things worked was one of my greatest curiosities, why and how phase changes occur, why sometimes electrons behave as waves and others as particles, what do molecular vibrations have to do with color, why does the frog have hair? And an endless number of hows and whys that wrapped my head, as well as that curiosity of the behavior of the elements due to pressure and size, as happens with the planets. Many of these curiosities led me to study this career.</div>

**Si hubieras estudiado lo que querías de niño, ¿qué sería? | If you had studied what you wanted as a child, what would it be?**

<div class="text-justify">¡Química!, pues si, de niño quería ser químico como mi padre, pues porque pase la mitad de mi niñez en un laboratorio, rodeado de jóvenes estudiantes universitarios que ahora son la mayoría egresados de la Universidad de Cambridge obteniendo sus doctorados, cosa que era mi sueño, pero no pude lograrlo. Siempre estuve rodeado de química; pasar los días de estudio de mi padre cuando yo apenas tenía 8 años, fueron más que suficientes para saber que quería, además es fascinante para un niño ver como en sistemas controlados esos jóvenes científicos me mostraban cosas increíbles que era como hacer hervir el agua a 25° Celsius, formar un cristal de sulfato de cobre a partir de un tubo de cobre, y un sinfín de cosas maravillosas.</div>
> <div class="text-justify">Chemistry, yes, as a child I wanted to be a chemist like my father, because I spent half of my childhood in a laboratory, surrounded by young university students who are now mostly graduates of Cambridge University obtaining their doctorates, which was my dream, but I could not achieve it. I was always surrounded by chemistry; spending my father's study days when I was barely 8 years old, were more than enough to know what I wanted, besides it is fascinating for a child to see how in controlled systems those young scientists showed me incredible things such as how to boil water at 25° Celsius, form a copper sulfate crystal from a copper tube, and endless wonderful things.</div>

**¿Alguien cercano a ti estudia la carrera? | Is anyone close to you studying the career?**
<div class="text-justify"><div class="pull-left">Actualmente, los que son cercanos a mi muchos siguen en este reto ya sea en posgrados o especializaciones, ellos como yo, aún seguimos apostando por el estudio.</div></div>
<div class="text-justify">Currently, many of those who are close to me continue in this challenge either in postgraduate studies or specializations, they, like me, are still committed to study.</div>

**¿Tus padres te apoyan? | Are your parents supportive?**

<div class="text-justify">Creo que desde niño, sabiendo ya lo que quería, me apoyaron en esa decisión, por suerte la carrera de química existía en mi ciudad natal Cumaná, en donde vi a la Universidad de Oriente como una de mis más maravillosos refugios para encaminarme en mi aprendizaje. Ya como muchos, estudiamos y trabajamos para podernos mantener siempre activos en nuestros estudios que a pesar de ser una universidad pública era bastante exigente con muchas cosas y para eso se precisaba el siempre necesario recurso monetario.</div>

> <div class="text-justify">I think that since I was a child, already knowing what I wanted, I was supported in that decision, luckily the chemistry career existed in my hometown Cumana, where I saw the Universidad de Oriente as one of my most wonderful shelters to get on track in my learning. Like many others, we studied and worked to be able to be always active in our studies, which despite being a public university was quite demanding with many things and for that the always necessary monetary resources were needed.</div>
